yup it hydrolocked

so it was major damage from the flood. the question now is. what will allstate do? the head mechanic at my dealer said the motor is gone and usually they just replace the whole motor but allstate may choose to require them to replace just the postion that was damaged. in any case im glad its not a total loss. Broward infiniti is top notch. they even gave me a loaner which is supposed to only be available for customers who have warranty work done thier cars. He pulled me aside and told me he would hook me up even though its not thier policy. So at the end of the day im left with a $500 (deductable) mistake by trying to use my car as a submarine. on top of that, i was scheduled for my first tune up for oil and filter. guess i wont have to do that now. i look at it now as a $500 tune up! anyway thanks for the help you guys while trying to figure this out. John
anyway thanks for the advice guys

Man that sucks, at least you are able to keep decently positive about it.

If you don't mind me asking, how much water did you go through? Do you have a stock intake or some type of a CAI?

Hope the dealer at least hooked you up with a G for a loaner.

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

well the only thing that really sucks is that i have to pay $500 out of my pocket. i was told my insurtance wouldnt go up and i will be getting a new engine and the loaner is free and yes a G35 sedan. not all that bad if you ask me. couldve been a total loss and would have lost all the time and work i spent on my car and the check could have been for a lot cheaper than a new G forcing me to buy another car. and no it had the stock filter.

Re: yup it hydrolocked

Yeah, all told you didn't do that bad. Course, with a stock filter you might be able to go after infiniti for a bad design and get them to pay your deductible. For $500 they might just settle to avoid the pain of fighting it. Then again, if it was 3 feet of water you were trying to cross your case probably won't be as strong.

Re: yup it hydrolocked

just curious...how high was the water at the place you were trying to cross...cause with the stock airbox, you would have had to go in a REALLY deep place.

Good lord! With all the convolutions, angles, resonators, and the stock filter, how in the world did significant water get all the way into the manifold?

It sounds like it's working out for you, sorry about the deductable.

Has the car suffered any interior damage like the inside of the cabin?
