Loan car almost not available

When I dropped my car off this morning, the service advisor told me that he might have to give me a rental. A Pontiac . He said they were running out of loan car and said that people don't return their loan car on time. Some people even keep the loan car for weeks after service was done . I did end up getting a G sedan as a loaner. But com'n people, please return your loan car on time and stop joy riding with your loan car.

Stop telling people what to do.

Technically, telling someone to stop telling people what to do is in fact, telling someone what to do.

I think my dealership charges $35/day for every day beyond the one your car is ready, if you keep the loaner too long.

my dealer charge $45/day. still that's hell of a deal for renting. the only way dealer can stop the problem is let them know if they don't return the loaner in time, they will loan out the car that they droped in for service...

Re: Loan car almost not available

They can't legally do that, but it is an interesting idea. I think they should have a 2-tier charge for loaners... say $35/day if you're paying up front because you don't qualify for a freebie, and $75/day (or more) starting the day after your car is ready to be picked up.

Personally, I don't know why anyone wouldn't want their own car back. I prefer mine to any loaner. Maybe they should rent out G20's instead of G35's and FX35's.

my dealer charges for not returning the loaner on time, i just don't see why someone would not want to give back there loaner, the one i had only had 7200 miles on it and i couldn't wait to get my coupe back.

Your dealer is BS'ng you about people keeping cars for weeks. NO dealer would let anyone get away with that.

Re: Loan car almost not available

Yeeeeeah, they would. I got the same deal once. The owner of the dealership gave me his loaded FX to drive until they got a proper loaner back. They showed me the sign in/out form for the car I was picking up, and the guy before me had it for TWO WEEKS for an oil change. Hm.

I take mine in when I get the call, however once I think they called me on a Thursday, and I had NO time on Friday or Sat to pick it up (going out of town), so I picked it up on the next Monday. The car was supposed to be done on Tuesday, but they had to wait for a part... I told them I was headed out of town, so they understood.

Re: Loan car almost not available

I bring my car in Monday for some dealer-promised work they still owe me from the purchase. They told me to expect to get a Hertz special.

I told them that I will not be "completely satisfied" unless I get an Infiniti loaner - not a Neon or Grand Am. We'll see....

Re: Loan car almost not available

Mine has a pretty good fleet of loaners, but when they're gone, they're gone.. no Enterprise or Avis anything, just a courtesy ride to wherever or a wait in the lounge. Getting a loaner usually isn't a problem, though, as long as you don't mind scheduling appointments 2 or 3 days from when you call in.

Re: Loan car almost not available

I scheduled my appointment 1-2 weeks before and I made a point to ask for a loaner twice during the phone call. They promised me a loaner. On the day of service, I show up at 7:30am, and guess what? No loaner.

They drove me to an Enterprise and paid for a Pontiac. Man, I couldn't WAIT to get my car back. The car was dirty, and I had to wash my hands everytime I got out of the car.

Re: Loan car almost not available

When my car was in the body shop having it's bumper replaced, I dealt with Enterprise. The insurance company tried to put me in a little compact, and I had to talk them up to the Pontiac. Then, to add insult to injury, they were out and "upgraded" me to a Mercury Grand Marquis. It's suspension makes the I35 feel like a friggin' Indy Car by comparison. It was clean, though. Oh, did I mention the "powerful, 224hp V8 engine?"

Re: Loan car almost not available

I guess it pays to buy the G from one of the largest dealers in the nation . The dealer I bought my G from, always give you a loaner, as long as you ask for it in advance. It might be an I35, but it'll be an Infiniti .
