Question about fluid flushes
Question about fluid flushes
I'm about to do my 60k mile major maintenance on my 2003 G35 coupe 6MT... I'm a little confused as to the difference between changing fluids (which I imagine is the same as "drain and refill") and FLUSHING fluids.
For my 60k service, I'd like to know which of the following should be simply changed, and which should be FLUSHED, and which needs neither:
-Engine oil (oil change is obvious, but I saw a service for engine oil flushing-- what's up with this?)
-Differential oil
-Manual transmission fluid
-Brake fluid (I've seen dealers advertise that they replace brake fluid-- is this the same as flushing, and is flushing the same as "bleeding"?)
-Fuel system (is this the same as 'fuel injection service'?)
-Power steering
And are there any other fluids that I should consider replacing/changing or flushing?
Thanks!

unless you are experiencing problems, a drain and refill for most systems should be sufficient.
if you want peace of mind, than a flush may be important for your coolant, which is something you don't have on your list.
otherwise, drain and refill of oil, tranny, and diff is sufficient.
to completely replace your current brake fluid would require them to drain and bleed your brakes, a flush is just an extra step where they flush your brake lines with a different fluid before they fill it with new brake fluid. again, flush not really required.
same goes with power steering.
fuel system??? never really heard of that. i'd imagine changing out your plugs is good enough. i'm sure any fuel injection service would just involve them adding an additive to your fuel.
i think that's all the fluids in your car....well, unless you consider your AC system fluids. Only need to mess with that if your AC ain't getting cold.
