I just turned 21 and pay 8 grand a year for insurance, do you guys really think I give a **** about going 110+ mph in the rain? You guys are too old, too wise, I'm still young and stupid.

$8k for insurance? ACK, someone prop me back up, I just fell outta my chair. Forgive me if this is none of my business, but why so much?
Re: Gave c32 AMG a good spanking
dollar99, what mods have you done to your car? 355hp? That kicks ***. I originally posted that a C32 would kick a G's *** but if you've got that much juice then I can see why you won.

You're taking some grief for posting your story, but here's my take. I'm 35, have a wife and 3 kids, drive a 4 door car because that's the practical reality of my life right now, and my insurance per-vehicle is a measly $500/year. I've never taken my car on a public road to 90 mph in good weather--let alone the rain--and if by some strange aligning of the planets some guy looked over at my car and thought "hey lemme race middle aged man in his sedan" I would probably just let him go by.
My point is... if you stop posting stuff like this, how are us middle aged guys going to live vicariously through you??
Seriously, as long as your need for speed is accomplished far away from innocent bystanders, I see no reason to impose my lifestyle on yours.

Zimbo,
There are lots of good "quite" roads around our area. I'm dying to see your car since you got the SC. 90? C'mon man, let me give it a spin and I'll let you know how fast it goes.

Yup we do give a damn actually. This thread will be great for source to convict you for prison time to keep you off the street for our safety. Do you go pho99 after racing too? =) peace

Re: Gave c32 AMG a good spanking
g35 and c32 are both very nice cars. I joined this forum last yr when i was looking at both. nearly commited to g35 but ended up buying a starmarked 02 c32 w 5k for $10 off sticker.
the c32 has lag when you stomp on it- before the tq convertor locks up. then you start to fly. there are kits out there for added HP (ie evosport, renttech) but warranty issues are a consideration.
it's a fantastic car to do long distance touring, that's my rationale for purchase.

Re: Gave c32 AMG a good spanking
Well ive been reading all these threads and it seems that everybody thinks that if your have a car with greater horsepower you automatically win.....EEEGGHHH WRONGO!!! Yes the a AMG may be faster than the G but it all boils down to THE DRIVER!!!! 349 hp doesnt mean $hit if you dont know how to use it...Case in point..i dont condone racing but i had a run in with a brand new 2003 CLK55 AMG on the Highway(The guy was just being an a$$hole)..And guess what he didnt exactlly blow me away as a matter of fact i even past him!!! (and my car is stock)Pissed him of good BYE BYE Eighty grand!!...undestand most of these shmucks in these cars have no clue how to handle them..so if your on a straight away then yes the G will loose but what good is HP if you dont know how to handle it...Trust me im from NY nobody know how to drive here!!!!
Re: Gave c32 AMG a good spanking
shark, you're right. weight, tranny, drag all play a part.
if you're the right gear in the g35 will pull ahaed of a c32. once the torque convertor locks up then the c32 will be accerating harder.
anyway, (don't take this the wrong way) you should not make general statements like "these smucks in these cars" . it's unfair to broadly characterize in this manner.
quite a few of the c32 owners track their cars, and do well. maybe that guy had a gold chains round his neck! LOL.
..........oops - hope didn't **** off g35 driver with gold chains!

Re: Gave c32 AMG a good spanking
Thought I would get back to the original topic.
I just bought a new coupe with the 6 speed and Brembos.
We also own a 2002 C32 (my wife's car!). Stock vs. stock the C32 will smoke my G35. My G-Tech Pro confirmed the published numbers for the C32. I have not tried it on my G35 since its bloody winter in Toronto!
I am considering a future supercharger upgrade, but I will wait to see how much they cost and if problems develop.
Nice to see you can get some good power. The Mercedes has 215 hp stock and 349 hp supercharged to 14.7 psi from 3.2 l. Should get at least 380 hp from 3.5 l with a good blown set up?
