Anyone tried removing the tow hook cover?

I need to install my front license plate temporarily to go to inspection.

How is the tow hook cover removed? I tried lifting it up with a screwdriver in the slot provided, but all it did was put a nick in the paint......

Has anyone had any experience in removing the cover successfully?
I had my bumper repainted last summer, and I hope its not going to chip off any paint or damage the bumper.....It seems like its really secure on the bumper...............

HELP!!!!!!!!

It pops out from that point with the notch.
Try wrapping screwdriver with elect tape or something to prevent paint gouging/scratching.
Hope they didn't paint your bumper with that cover still on. If they did, then its like glued on with paint.
Mine not hard to remove.

Use a smaller screwdriver. Note that one of the four corners has an arrow type of attachment that keeps the cover from falling off. You'll have to squeeze the tips together and pull it out.

Be a man and use your finger, there is a notch on the right side to help you pry it out

I took it off a few weeks ago when I blew my plenum, only to find an intercooler instead of a front brace =)

^^^ yeah forgot to mention small screwdriver..haha, but to me that was a no brainer to use right size in the slot step one

I got this bad feeling they painted his bumper with cover still on.
Guess exacto knife to cut paint around cover, then touch up paint afterwards.

Thanks everyone for your fast responses....

Well, I finally did get the cover off.....It was really on the bumper sooo tight.
I actually left a small indentation in the slot area from pressing up so hard to remove the back tab.....I'm not happy, but at least I did it!

They did remove the cover when they repainted my bumper.....the cover was just on really tight....

I will take some pics and post them on how I will mount the OEM bracket without drilling holes....I was posted a while back, but the pics are not up anymore....

This will hopefully save somebody if they need to put a plate on temporarily for a "fix it" ticket/inspection etc....

Thanks again
