Multiple Rattle Fix Solution: Custom-cut 3M foam!
My coupe has been pretty rattle-free (3+ months old) except for a number of annoying interior rattles due to the hard-plastic design of some of the storage areas, etc. Stuff shifting around, along with normal road vibes, caused rattles galore in the sunglass holder, center console and gloveboxes. My keys also liked to tap tap tap around the ignition area.
Problem solved: I had some 3M neoprene custom-cut for the G. The guy who cut ‘em had done some custom-cuts for owners of the Honda Pilot and Acura MDX (our other car) with rave reviews, so it seemed a worthwhile endeavor. They’re a perfect fit and work like a charm
Here are some pics of the pieces standalone and installed. They work great, and some of them are adhesive-backed (sunglass holder, lower glovebox, ignition and seatbelt tabs) so they hold and/or wrap around the space properly. The neoprene is “sticky” enough to keep gear from sliding around, and provides just the right amount of padding to avoid rattles.
The cost for the whole set was $25 delivered. Well worth it, IMO.
I got 'em from Wilson Wong (wwong@ix.netcom.com) and he has the templates for the Coupe 5AT and I imagine could quickly make whatever changes necessary for a 6MT or sedans (if they're different for some reason).
Highly recommended! Let me know if any questions, though I think the pics are pretty self-explanatory.

Re: Multiple Rattle Fix Solution: Custom-cut 3M foam!
Just checked...black only.
I think the only "issue" w/black would be the pax side mystery cubby and the seatbelt assemblies. I think the upper dash is dark enough on the willow so the black piece under the ignition wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb, and the balance of the stuff is recessed/hidden into the various storage bins, etc...
Thoughts?

Re: Multiple Rattle Fix Solution: Custom-cut 3M foam!
Just a quick note to answer a couple of emails/PMs with questions (that might answer Q's for others):
The following pieces are adhesive-backed: sunglass holder, seatbelt pads, lower glovebox, ignition, and passenger mystery cubby. The rest are held in place by gravity and the "stickiness" of the neoprene itself. They don't slide around at all. The adhesive stuff is pretty easy to remove w/o leaving residue (I'm told).
A few install tips for the adhesive-backed ones:
- If it's going on hard plastic (e.g. ignition switch, seatbelts, pax cubby) use isopropyl alcohol to clean the area first. Let dry before proceeding.
- "Dry fit" first (aka don't peel off the liner til you test the fit and understand how it goes).
- For the sunglass holder, start at the bottom (where the two "legs" are, lining them up with the bottom edge of the holder. Press those into position and work your way up the back of the holder.
- For the lower glovebox, start at the "front" or "lower" portion and work your way up and back.
- For the pax cubby, I found it easiest to fold the piece in half like a taco, pinching the top edges, then just sorta dropped it straight down.
Hope that helps.
