I hate warm oil, therefore the use of this valve since 1985 has been invaluable. I don't warm up my car unles you call moving into position on the ramps a warm up. I like to drain the impurities out with the change. Plus when the filter is full it is a dirty enough job anyway.

If you drive your car for 5 minutes the oil is not going to get cold in the time it takes to remove those few bolts.
