Oil-drain valve
Oil-drain valve
Anyone interested in this oil-drain valve? Got one for my g35c It's about $30. You can drain your oil using a plastic tube (not included) which attaches to the nipple (optional) right into any container. Never have to unscrew the oil-drain bolt again...

Re: Oil-drain valve
Where'd you get it from? (website)... and if the nipple is optional, how much does it cost?
I'm doing my oil change this weekend so I might go ahead and add one of those on there...

Here's another photo. The nipple is like $3 extra. The website is www.fumotovalve.com

Re: Oil-drain valve
Grubb's is selling them now in the maintenance page on their website. I bought one and use it with the hose. It's pretty cool doing an oil change and not spilling a drop.

one more thing....has anyone left that bottom engine cover off permanently...seems more work to take it off and back on than changing the oil and filter......2old4this

Re: Oil-drain valve
That valve locks itself. It's a 2-step move to open it but they also sell a clip for it if you want.
The cover isn't that hard to remove. You only have to remove about 5 or 6 bolts to get to the drain plug and filter.

Re: Oil-drain valve
what about taking the bottom cover off, driving around for a minute or two, and then changing oil?
I've read that it's recommended that you change oil while car is still warm so that impurities don't settle to the bottom, and come out with the oil change.
And I don't want to go under the car and have to try to hurry to get the bottom cover off after I've come back from a quick "warm up" ride.
Then again, I have yet to remove the bottom cover so I don't know if it only takes like a minute anyways.. (not enough miles for 1st oil change yet)
