G35C is definitely a cop magnet!!!
Folks,
I just picked up my G yesterday and drove directly home with it (approximately 16 highway miles).
This car was definitely designed by someone who has a keen eye for a sexy rear-end :-)
About 5 miles from the dealership on I-291 E, my internal cop detector prompted me to check my rearview. Since I'm trying my darndest to adhere to the recommended break-in practice, I was like the lone car, in the right lane, in 5th gear doing barely 62 in a 65. I spotted the cop in the left lane about 8 cars behind. He quickly move over to my lane and sped up to about 150 feet behind me and dogged me for about 3 minutes b4 zipping back to the left lane and taking off.!!
What's up with that?? Don't they have real criminals to kill and donuts to mutilate??? Or does the G35C come standard with a hidden beacon for police??
Oh yeah, the car rides very nicely - a good road feel, not as smooth as my '94 Acura Legend, but definitely not as rough as some people here have suggested.
The Bose system is "boomy" and cheap sounding compared to the Bose system in the Legend. Is it the rigidity of the speaker mounting or is this 200 watt amp less robust than the 200 watt Bose amp in a 9-year old Legend??

Put a low frequency cap/resistor on the door speakers and/or upgrade your tweeters. It gives it better balance.

in my area it seems the opposite, there's been so many times i've passed cops going enough over the limit to have been ticketed but they don't even look at me.

Re: G35C is definitely a cop magnet!!!
One can only hope that is the case. :-)
But my take is this:
First they're intrigued, "Oh My! That car looks really HOT".
Then they think, " Gee, that car looks fast pretty FAST..I bet he is gonna speed any minute. I'll just tail him and nail his ****".
Then one of two things happen:
1) The Gdude(diva) cannot restrain the blood coursing through his/her veins and punches it a little and the G responds instantly ( 60 to 90 in 20 nanoseconds); cop smiles and activates red/blue strobe, "Gotcha! Knew you couldn't hold back for long", or
2) as in my case, Gdriver is too busy scoping nav and checking out ***** to punch it. Cop gets bored/disappointed and drives off muttering "Woos!"

Re: G35C is definitely a cop magnet!!!
KAHBOOM,
When you say "low frequency", do you mean somewhere below the crossover frequency or do you mean in sub sonic/infrasonic range (for isolating the door low frequency response)?
Has it been determined that the boominess is indeed from the speaker (crossover) or from the door?
If the crossover is poorly implemented I would expect significant phasing problems between the overlapping frequencies of the tweeter and the low frequency driver and this could account for the boominess. Is this what you are hoping to address with the cap/resistor (filter)? If so, can you specify a the (high-pass) frequency you've found that's best???
Thanks for clarifying.

Re: G35C is definitely a cop magnet!!!
Since I'm a recording engineer by profession, and I listen to my mixes regularly in my car (after making them on a $6000 Genelec monitoring system), I'll offer you one quick suggestion for making the Bose system sound a bit better: turn up the treble to +3. Leave everything else at default. Short of replacing components this will put the system closest to neutral for most music sources. It will still lack real top end, but will be adequate, and better than many other cars' OEM systems.

Hey I do make it +3 treble. =) It was the only way I could get it to sound decent.
The front speakers are so horrible. If you isolate them and listen, the tweeter does not make enough sound, and the midrange is COMPLETELY flat, and the bass too boomy. The back, when isolated, doesn't sound so bad.
I'm thinking of putting in a JL amp and a new set of 6.5 components. It should really kick up the high frequencies, distinguish the mid range, and tighten up the bass.
If I'm not the mistaken, the stock amp puts out 2 ohm. Most aftermarket speakers are 4 ohm. This is going to be a problem. I wish I could just put new speakers in using the stock amp.

This is so Funny!
I also use the treble +3 cluge to make the sound tolerable. I experimented with cutting back the bass and upping the treble and finally just settled on slightly up with the treble.
I just saw a "tweeter" post on Freshalloy that linked back to someone named Slinky.. who replaced the crossover and tweeters with Polks and claims outstanding performance improvement.
Why didn't Infinfiti just do it right the first time?
If they really wanted to sell Premium packages they could've left the basic system "boomy" and provide a superb system with Premium upgrade.
I guess we'll have to wait for teh '05 models to get it right!!
