Hitch Install for Bike Carrier
Hitch Install for Bike Carrier
I'm heavily considering the purchase of a G35c. The only problem is that I need to be able to transport my bicycles (one or two at a time). I think that a roof rack would ruin the look of the car, but a rear carrier may look alright since I can take it off when not in use. Has anyone done/heard of anyone having a hitch installed on a G35c to mount a rear bike carrier?

I don't think that your ability to carry bikes should stop you from buying such an awesome car. I've seen racks that will hook up to your trunk area with latches that secure it at the seam of the trunk near the rear window and then down at either the bottom of the car or bottom of trunk, and your bikes just sit on your rear. I think they look pretty slick. It's difficult to describe it in words, but anyway, the ones I've seen have padding everywhere that the rack comes into contact with your paint. I'm sure there are hundreds of options from companies out there. You should by the car first and then look for the setup you like that will be custom to your car. Good luck!

Its great you're talking about hidden hitches and all, but we're talking about a G35 COUPE! Not a pick up truck! LOL .... The only way you're gonna get a hitch on that thing is if you have one custom made, and quite frankly I wouldnt do it.....

Re: Hitch Install for Bike Carrier
I don't think there is ANY hitch available for the G35, sedan or coupe. Over at FreshAlloy, someone figured out that the G35 just doesn't have any appropriate frame connection points back there.
I wouldn't rule out the roof rack concept so quick. The racks come off pretty fast. But unfortunately, I think they are only available for the sedan, either from Infiniti or aftermarket (Thule, etc.).

I m not too crazy about that hitch idea. But if its necessary then why not.

Actually, there is at least one coupe with a hitch on it. He did have it specially made. It is probably 2/3 of the way through this thread.

Ducati.....how true. Can you picture the blur of a G on the freeway going 70-90mph and then you see something else and wtf, "what the hell is that...is that a spoiler.....?" Then you realize its a bike attached to the beautiful G's a$$ with its front wheel spinning in the wind.
Good luck to you TW.

TW,
Maybe you can paint your G yellow with the USPS insignia on it. People will mistakingly think its Lance Armstrong driving the car and say...ok, cool....THAT's why he has a bike strapped to that awesome ride.
Oh wait.....Lance endorses one of our competitors....the WRX......whoops....

Re: Hitch Install for Bike Carrier
Don't take this personally, this is just a philosophical question...
I used to mountain bike pretty heavily in college. My question, though, is why would you use your G to transport a bike? If you come back from a hard or even leisure bike ride, you're usually sweaty and stinky, your feet smell....etc. Why subject your nice leather seats and cabin to these sweet stenches, dirty clothes and SPD shoes? Why risk scratching up the already fragile G paint while mounting your bike?
I guess I can understand if the G is your primary transportation vehicle. But if not, I don't want even sweating grocery bags in my cabin much less sitting on my leather seats with drenched crotch sweat seaping through the spandex.
Just my 2c speaking from a former avid moutain biker.

Re: Hitch Install for Bike Carrier
Alright. Looks like there's not a straightforward answer. The hitch idea is obviously too extreme. The rear bike carrier is what i'm leaner toward though none of the major bike carriers manu. list the g35c coupe in their fit guide.
Plus if I could afford a stable of vehicles I wouldn't even think of bike transport on the g35c.

Re: Hitch Install for Bike Carrier
I didn't mean to have a plethora of automobiles....like i said if the G if your primary mode of transpo, that's understandable. Why not get a $2000 older pickup beater just for transporting your Trek or Specialized or what ever you have to your fav biking spot?
Re: Hitch Install for Bike Carrier
Check FA forum and search for bike carrier. those of us that want to drive accros country in our sports cars and bike on trails need this. If I can get 4 other people there is a quality one that will be made.
