Anyone ever ran a Lexus GS430?
I ran my friend from about 40-90mph.I was about half a car ahead of him all the way till 90mph and he just starts pulling. I shut off because I didnt want to get embarrassed..haha. Those cars are quick top end.I think I can take him from a stop though. I always take off faster than him from a stop, but he never wants to run me from a stand still.I had 4 ppl in my car and he had only 3.

Re: Anyone ever ran a Lexus GS430?
I raced my OWN heavily modded 1999 GS400 2 nights ago, if that counts? Of course, my G isn't exactly stock ( & more to come!! ) but my youngest son had borrowed his Mom's car ( the GS4 ) & wanted to play. I didn't have any trouble until about 100+ mph when he slowly started to close the gap ( at that time he was 3-4 lengths behind ). Before anyone trashes me for street racing, we were on an unopened section of future Interstate where there was no other traffic. We shut down around 140 since the GS is governed to 149 mph but he had made up about 1-2 lengths. The V-8 in the GS has a better breathing capacity at top end than out V-6's ( although the GS weighs over 600# more ). FWIW - I've dyno'ed the GS at 346 flywheel HP & laid down a 13.79 quartermile time so it's no slug. I think the only difference between the GS400 & the GS430 is a little more torque by the 430? Having owned both, the G35 is more of a pure sports car while the GS excells in long distance comfort accompanied with a fair share of performance, IMHO.
BTW - each car had only the driver in it!!! JK!!!!

Re: Anyone ever ran a Lexus GS430?
If I could mildly disagree with you MeanG, the '98 GS400 Lexus was listed at 3,690 lbs., but most mags called it 3,745 lbs., possibly due to having Navigation and some other extras like Nakamichi sound system. Maybe the '99 was heavier, but I don't think that much more.
The GS430 may have been a bit more due to added "content".
The G35 Infiniti, 6mt Coupe is listed at 3,435 lbs. probably without Navigation which might add something in weight.
Therefore, the maximum weight difference between the G35 Coupe-6mt and the GS400 could be about 260-300 lbs., with possibly a little more for the later model GS430 due to extra "content" (read: extras which weigh something).
Still, the V8 in the GS400/430 is quite "torquey".

Bond - Yep, "content" is what makes my GS4 a 4k# vehicle ( no, I'm NOT talking about MY big butt!! LOL!! I have over 200# of stereo equipment in the car ( about 150# in the trunk - great for traction but not top end ). Still, I agree about the torque of the 4.0 V-8.

Re: Anyone ever ran a Lexus GS430?
Wow, Mean G, your GS4 must sound as good as it looks, rides and goes! I'm impressed, really. Being something of a no-sound, know-nothing, I always thought the GS400 had one of the best-sounding, stock stereos. But, I know I've heard better in cars that have been "added onto" with what I call, "trunk stuff". That's about as technical as I can get about stereo stuff. My own personal feeling is that the G35Coupe, by comparison, is a very pale competitor (to the Lexus's standard stereo) with the supposedly premium Bose system. But that's another story.
Enjoy good driving and good tunes!
