Squeaking Brakes

So I took my car in the other day to the dealer to have a couple warranty issues taken care of and my car is still there, 4 days later. The big question is about the brake issue that I took it in for. I developed a severe squeak whenever I gradually brake to a stop. If I stop really fast I do not hear it. First I thought pads but I was only hearing it on one side and after pulling the wheel found I have about 60-70% of my pads left. I did however find a clean spot on the top of the rotor. This is not the side where the pads rub, this is the actual top part of the rotor. It basically looked like the caliper was rubbing on the rotor.

So long story short the dealer tells me that Infiniti is saying the squeak when going in reverse is normal and they cannot get it to squeak while driving forward so they don't want to do anything. To me this is just completely stupid as they can clearly see that something is rubbing on the rotor that is not supposed to. Has anyone else had this issue or been told the same thing?

I do know I did not spend a crap ton of money for a car that squeaks like a POS every time I pull up to a light.

squekin is normal for breaks, when you come to slow stop, the pads are moving alillte bit and the vibration caues a litle resonance, their is nothing to do except pu shim, in their, ussually a aftermarket shim will ruin your pedal feel, and then they make lube, which helps a little bit, just live with it. try and change the pads.

Some of you may think I'm crazy for this but it works...
My brakes start that crap every few months; this is how I fix it:

I do 1 or 2 hard stops from over 100MPH which heats the brakes and wears just enough of the glaze that usually causes the squeak to be removed. After this the brakes don't squeak for months.

I'm not telling you to go do this, but it works for me and I choose the right time and place to do it and always on a stretch of road with several lanes... If you decide to try this, please be safe and considerate of any other cars on the road or cars entering your path from ramps etc.

Put your car in reverse and go like 30 mph then slam on the brakes. This will stop it!

I had this same issue and when I took it in to the dealer he told me it was missing the shim kit. Bought the car used and I don't think the dealer did the pads that are on the car now.

It only happens in reverse and at slow speeds too. I don't think it has anything to do with the shim kit. I know that it will squeak without the shim kit, but . . .

It only does it in reverse for me too! The brakes need to be replaced soon and when I replace them I will make sure to put the shim kit on and let you know if I still get squeaking.

You probably just need to clean out the shims and apply new grease to it.

Well I got my car back on Friday and they said they pulled everything apart and could not see anything. They found some "road debris" for whatever that means. Probably a BS line but it has not been making any noise yet. Whatever it was I am hopeful it was corrected when they put everything back together.

My front passenger side was squeaking so I just used brake cleaner to clean out the shims and then applied new grease. No more squeakity squeak for me!

Quit complaining and just deal with it. This Brembo setup is known very well for have brake squeal. I had the same problem with my STI and it just became part of the car to me.
