Just saw a commercial for the stock WRX and it said 0-60 in 5.4??? I didnt think it was this powerful. Is this marketing or should i watch out for WRX's?

Re: WRX really this fast....

Yes the stock car is actually that fast, but I bet you that most drivers on the road could not get it to go that fast. Just like I probably am not a good enough driver to get my G (in stock form) from 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds, but it has been done before. Odds are, the average 18 year old is not able to get those types of numbers, but the fun part is....

You never no unless you go! Now No Street Racing!!!

Watch out from a launch - but like kwakman says, once they're rolling they aren't as impressive. I ran away from one several times from approx 65mph to 100mph. Didn't pull too much, but enough for some distance.

Re: WRX really this fast....

to get that time you have to do what is known as a gorilla launch. you rev the engine then let the clutch slip out. you do that enough and the tranny is gonna give out. from a roll the G35 should have no problem smacking them around.
and on the highway they fall flat on their ***. they have NO top end torque. i have yet to be seriously challenged by one.

Re: WRX really this fast....

ok so im 18 and I just want to say that I think I do pretty good launches with no slip of the wheels. i launch from 3500 rpm - 4000 rpm and how found out that is the best launch for the most pick up and least spin of tires. Ive raced a wrx and was only half a car length behind him off the line with a perfect launch. and ate that garbage, I [censored] put some pepper and salt on that [censored] and ate it
On the van winkle exress way in the right lane going east towards that intersection by the excel gym and wendys anyone from utah?

Re: WRX really this fast....

You'll walk over basic WRX with your G stop or roll, however Sti will DESTROY you easy from the stop. From the roll you'll hang with him. Chances are most guys with basic' WRX nowadays are not stock anymore.

Who cares? Those are f^cking ugly a$$ cars - Period. My brother had a '71 Camaro that would crush all these cars - it was ugly but it ran like bolt of lightning! It would bark the tires going from gear to gear.

Re: WRX really this fast....

As a WRX owner, I agree with everything that's been said on this thread. WRXs can have a great launch, but the top end sucks without mods. I'm really happy to see you guys are open-minded enough to know this...other forums I've been to don't give us WRX owners any credit whatsoever

Re: WRX really this fast....

I had both a WRx and my G35C. The WRx was modifed and made about 280 crank hp (est) and let me tell you, it beat the G35 from a dead stop, a roll, lowend, topend,... But when it came time to giving one up, which one did I keep? The G35C! Now for a nice TT setup...
