Project Coupe out of the paint shop...

We just got it back this week and here are some preliminary pictures. I realize the paint may be a bit over the top, depending on your tastes, but it'll definitely turn heads and get some attention. The paint work was done by a local shop that normally does airbrush work on motorcycle fenders and tanks. The quality is top notch, I wish the photos would just pick up half the detail in the paint, it's really a whole different look in person.

Anyways, I'm sure you're all more interested in the performance stuff (I know I am) Right now we have the upper half of a NISMO CAI (will convert to Z-tube/Pop combo soon due to CAI fitment issues with intercooler placement), BRM headers, B&B exhaust, Stillen Supercharger w/ Stage II Intercooler (air/water setup), NISMO sway bars, JIC FLT-A2 coil-overs, NISMO 18" wheels w/ S-03 tires, upgraded rotors, metal matrix pads, braided lines and Motul RBF600 fluid. However, a set of BIG brakes (front and rear) are on the way.

There are some pictures of our car in the link below we also took a short ametuer video (.mp4 - probably needs quicktime) to give you an idea of the sound, etc... There's still a bit of work left to do and we're definitely not done yet, but these pics should give you an idea of what we've accomplished so far along with the direction we're heading!

I'll be updating the link with more pictures and videos very soon, as well as transfering it over to our normal website.
Also, If you have any questions about the parts, installation, fitment, performance, etc.. feel free to ask. I haven't had a lot of time with the car yet and we haven't hit a dyno yet (we will soon though, once we get a few more things taken care of) but it's definitely been a learning experience.

Thanks!

Nice! Looks awesome, sounds awesome, keep us posted on the numbers when you can. Man, that's a really, really nice paint job. I know what you mean about how some people might not like it, but that's good stuff...

Wow Justin.. I am very impressed by the outcome. The car looks very good; what shop did the paint job? I don't see any infinitipartsusa advertisement on it though! =P

The car looks pretty good. Under the hood looks pretty neat. I wouldn't say I could paint my coupe like that, but I still have to admire the work of the paint job. Judging from some of the pictures, I can imagine how detailed the paint job really is. Good going.

That looks like a great quality paint job...the painter did a great job oh making it look like the white paint is ripping off and the true race car is coming out...however on this car..its gaudy!

I agree about getting bigger wheels. I mean, you did already go through a lot of trouble for the custom paint job, why not go all out as far as the wheels go (maybe a set has already been ordered?). Just my opinion...clean car.

No offence to you, but that paint job doesn't look right on that car. That supercharger though is another story nice and clean setup.

Not sure why you guys are after the bigger wheels? They've obviously invested a good amount of money on performance. Bigger wheels does not equal optimal performance.

Re: Project Coupe out of the paint shop...

Thanks for the input guys!
The wheels were chosen because of the looks and mainly performance. These wheels will allow for HUGE brakes too. The larger 18 x 10" rear wheels weighed in right around 19lbs and the fronts were just a hair lighter so they'll definitely help with overall performance of the vehicle. We have many sets of 20's go through the shop every week so if we need a set for a show or something, it shouldn't be too much trouble

As for the paint, it's definitely something that some people will love, yet others will hate. We actually have mixed feelings about it here in the shop, a few people like it, then a few us of think it's a bit over the top (considering the car). However, we all agree that the quality is top notch!

As far as power output goes, the supercharger has definitely given the car a more broad powerband with a noticeable increase up top. The supercharger whine is VERY addicting and a nice change from turbo spool. The headers definitely change the note of the exhaust, for the better and I'm very excited to see how high flow cats affect everything, given the results others have seen. The suspension is very tight and the car responds very well to driver inputs. The brakes stop the car extremely well, with less fade than stock, but the big brakes should make an even larger difference and reduce any chances of fade that much more. The tires are great too, I still love my Azenis, but due to the limited sizes available we went with the S-03's and they're very nice too. They provide plenty of traction considering the power available right now and really help compliment the suspension nicely.

I'm eagerly awaiting some dyno time to really get the car dialed in!

Re: Project Coupe out of the paint shop...

as a street car, the paint job is too far out there.. but as a show car, its dead on and done very well. Its hard to separate the two, but on the show floor it will be the kind of eye catching paint you'd expect.
