what a ripoff...

i went to the dealership for some warranty work the other day...
one of the issues were the rubber lining on the bottom of the window wasn't right...
the service manager tells me that the door panel has been taken off before, therefore it's not covered under warranty...
so i was like well can you just put it back together right?
he's says well it's a 2 hr labor @ $130 an hr...
i was like wooow n/m...
so today i decide to do it myself since i've taken apart cars before...
took me about 5 min to take it off, put the missing clip in, line up the rubber lining and put the panel back on
what a dam crook they are

get the service manual and use it liberally. If you are mechanically inclined, save yourself $$$ and time on simple things.

Yeah, they're a bunch of idiots. Yesterday a service manager was explaining to me why synthetic oil is not good for our cars. Except he had no valid points other than hearsay and he didn't even know the right terminology.

Yea, I hear a lotta horror stories about the dreaded dealerships. Basically if you dont have a it good with your service rep, you probably will get shafted everytime. I might be one of the lucky ones who has a good relationship with their service rep and makes things as painless and bottom-line as possible.

Sorry to hear about your dealership man!

well if the door panel actually was taken off then it shouldn't be covered under warranty but he shouldn't have tried to charge you 260$

I'm not trying to stick up for the dealers at all...BUT

They have books that specifically tell them the base hours to charge for everything. Regardless of how long it may actually take. Also keep in mind - they get about 30% less money for warranty work..so they don't like doing it anyway.
