no, the stock STI cannot go under 13s in 1/4mile, even with an expert driver (almost all magazine stats show 13.3s). It is considered a good run if they can get low 13s with few mods. Average drivers should be at high 13s or even goes to low-14s if they can't shift properly. The 0-60 is around 4.8s i believe.
I am not surprising that the Gcoupe actually did beat the STI. I've seen a 325i AT beat a WRX MT. (stock vs stock). By all mean, STI should win G35C, but there are always people who can't drive.

 

I think its funny that ppl post beating cars that are faster than the g35. especially an auto g.are u sure he was even racing?

 

In that case, even if the G was MT...the Sti might not be racing either.

As an owner of both of these cars, I can tell you that my G (on a 140whp shot of juice and drag radials) could not catch up with the STi until the 1/8 mile. If a G can hang with an STi off the line, then the STi driver plain SUCKS. 1.6x and 1.7 60ft. times are the norm for the STi; I've yet to see a 60ft. for the G quicker than my own of 1.9x. And, I have seen timeslips (not my own) with the STi running 12.9x in the 1/4 STOCK.

well, gg35, you just don't know how many ppl can't drive on the street. I've seen 325i AT beat WRX MT, i know it becuz both of them are my friends. 325i AT's 0-60 should be around 8s compare to WRX's 5.6s. Even bigger difference in comparison to G35AT to STI, and STI's 1/4 mile is only mid-13s. (some ppl think it's a high 12s car, but it's not! average driver should be around mid to high 13s) So if a driver that can't shift properly can easily screw up and end up to mid or low 14s. ****, when ppl can't drive, anything can happen. Especially when the 0-60 and 1/4 mile time difference is within 1 sec range.

And i don't think it's possible for stock STI to go under 13s, becuz most experts test it, and almost all car magazine has the best record of 13.3s. if it goes under 13s, it must be some mods has been done. I know this because i visit STI forum awhile ago, and they said a STI with some mods go 13.0s is already a awesome run.

I didn't intend for this to be a debate or to prove anything... Like I said, I'm not disputing what the STI should have done, or could do. I'm only stating what happened. I don't need to go to a track to prove any of the information that you are telling me. I know that the STI is quicker. But on that night, that person in that STI was not.

GG35. i guess you just don't know how many newbie MT driver on the street. I see this happen myself, and the WRX driver just got his first car in his life. A lot of drivers who just got their first MT car will have trouble. Any first time MT driver could make a WRX over 8sec. It's ridiculous but true, believe it or not. I'm sure that the first time you drive a MT car and you can't shift properly, and probably lose to a Civic. Is that ridiculous? not really. If you don't believe, go find someone who never drive a MT car in his life, and tell him to test drive the G35C, i bet he can't even get anywhere near 8sec. You can judge that Kaboom maybe faced a newbie MT driver and beat him, but saying what some other ppl post is BS without knowing anything? That's unreasonable.

I'm just telling you it can be true that a G35C did beat a STI if the STI driver really sucks, and not familiar with MT. And there are less than 1 sec difference in both 1/4 mile and 0-60 time. Any new or average MT driver could easily screw up shifting and lose that 1sec advantage. Just to tell you don't call what other ppl say is BS unless you can prove it, and at this stage, what he say can be true if the STI driver is a new MT driver or even an average driver screwed up in shifting and a bad launch.
