Cabin air filter

Just wondering, do most of you change the cabin air filter yourself or have it done at Infiniti/Nissan?

I've heard it isn't too hard (04 coupe) and plan to do it myself if it isn't too much work. Are there any really good DYI's for this (I've found this one, but the diagrams don't look that great: http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi...irCFilter.htm).

Also, what's a good price for one? I've found them for about $23 here: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/se...009+1638&Nty=1. Any idea how much the official replacement would cost if I went to Nissan (would Nissan have the part for sure)?

Thanks for any help.

I think I got my incabin filter from grubbs performance for about $30 and did it myself. I found a nice diy with pictures and everything so do a search again. You basically need to remove the glove compartment which is holding up with four screws.

its pretty easy...remove the lower panel on the passenger side below the glove box by unscrewing a plastic nut then pulling off. then open your glove box and unscrew the hatch followed by the screws to the left and right of the hatch. the glove box will lower undo the light but DO NOT undo the airbag sensor. the access panel is there just pull off and change

Do it yourself. It's quick & easy and much cheaper than paying the stealership. I followed a DIY I found on the forums.

Go to Performance Nissan's website, mynismo.com, and get a Nissan filter for $8.52. S&H shouldn't be that bad. LINK The filter on Grubbs' website is micro filter which is why it costs more.

There was also a thread recently about activated carbon filters.

If you're handy with tools, you'll be ok. Got my carbon filters from Gordgee and installed it myself. Just follow the DIY here in the forum.

It's a real pain it the *** if you ask me, I let the dealer do it, it's not that expensive. It's about the only thing I let them do.

yeah real pain if you can't turn a screwdriver left or right...it seriously takes 10 mins, and most of that time is taking out screws, 2 panels, and the weather stripping...carbon filters dont pull anymore smell than the regular...if you want just go to homedepot and get a furnace carbon filter, cut it and put it on top of your filter...costs 3 bucks.

I have better things to do with my time! My time is worth more than the $65 they charge me.
Let's see, go get part, or order it, wait for it to arrive, take things apart, replace part...
No, I'll pass, thanks tho

I rather wash & clean the car with the time or spend it with my kids.
