Stillen front strut brace loose?

I just installed the Stillen FSB in my coupe. The pins and washers connecting the bar to the towers appear to leave about a half inch extra space. Are the pins supposed to tighten the bar to the point where it cannot move? It looks like I can pull the bar up and push the bar down to touch the plenum at anytime...is this the way it is supposed to be?

Stillen upper strut tower bar.......?

I don't have the Stillen strut bar you're refering to but maybe I can help you.
The brackets should be bolted to the upper struts with the nuts that were
already there.......correct? Then when installing the bar do one side at a
time but don't tighten. Make sure the flat washers and lock washers are in
the correct side.....lock washers behind the nuts. Tighten one side...tight
and then go to the other side push it down and tighten. I have a Richie
strut tower bar and ended up buying grade 8 nuts/bolts for quality and
strenth.....ya done yet? You're right the bar shouldn't move!

Stillen FSB

Thanks for replying. The method you described is how I installed it...but it looks like the pins are just too long. The nuts that were provided are the nylon insert lock nuts...maybe I'm supposed to force the pin through the nut? But I want to be able to remove the bar when I install my spacer next month...

fiber lock nuts are by design, 1 use only, screw them down until the bar is pretty tight, adjust the bar for proper plenum cover and hood clearance, then tighten them fully. When U add UR spacer, get some new nuts from any local hardware place.
