Question VDC/SLIP Just Turned off

This happend 3 days in a row out of nowhere. I'm just driving my way to school, then all of a sudden I see my VDC light go on and my SLIP go on at the same time. I don't bother turning them off since I'm already used to having it on at all times unless otherwise. Has this happened to anyone? Like it just turned off outta nowhere when driving cruising speed? I had to pull over and turn off the car fully and restart it to have it running fine again. Kind of worries me that it happened 3 times in a row. Oh yeah, and this occurred when I was driving around 35-40 mph. Should I take it to the dealer to get this problem corrected?

Thanks for anyone who helps!

06' models have the VDC and SLIP light on 24/7? I have an 05' AT and those two only turn on constantly if I disengage the VDC and SLIP.

if you push that car hard, excessive sliding around turns or dounts the slip lights will stay on. You usually have to turn the car off several times. There are so many threads on this. The vdc is still 'On" even if the button has been pushed to some degree. Im told when the lights stay on, the VDC has "given up" and you have full control of the car. VDC lights and warning lights are scary, because you know it could cost you $$$$$$. VDC lights staying ona arent that big a deal

When I was looking for a G to buy, I test drove a G that did the exact same thing. I was like, uh, what do i do. The salesman had me try to turn the car off and on again and then he had to mess with the VDC/Slip and then it started up. It did that twice when I was test driving the car. It was an 05.

I still have no idea why that particular car did that, but I didn't buy it. I too would really like to know why you're having this problem. I would really hate to have the same thing happen to my G.

Good Luck!

No, the VDC/SLIP wasn't on 24/7. The lights just turned on out of nowhere when I was at cruising speed. This worries me because I have a feeling thats $$$ if its not covered through any warranty. I never disengage it unless otherwise. Those 3 times it turned on, kind of scared me cause I never seen this happen.

Hey,

I hope I'm wrong, but on my car it happened a couple of weeks ago. For me, it was the brake system that had to be replaced (all 4 rotors and pads).

Thank god TireRack has a pretty good deals compare with the OEM Brembo brake kit at the dealership. I still had to spend a little under 1500$ with parts and installation

You probably want to have at least a visual inspection of your brake pads.....

Check your brake fluid. Much cheaper/easier than going straight to a full blown brake job. If you have low brake fluid, it messes with the ABS sensors/VDC controller.

If I'm not mistaken, low brake fluid will also toggle the hand brake (parking) light. Also, if you run low in brake fluid (and it's not leaking), it most likely means that your Calipers' pistons need more oil because the brake pads are not thick enough anymore. If you add oil, it might solve the warning light problem, but then you might damage your rotors with pads that should be replaced. With the type of wheels we have, you can almost see the pad without even removing the wheel!!

Good luck and let us know what it was in the end!

lol think in your head, what would brake pads and rotors have to do directly with VDC. The brake fluid is the first logical step, eletronic vdc straight to new rotors and pads wasnt a good first step. They probably changed your fluid as well.
