Ivory Pearl Touch-up paint?

Just wondering what experiences you have with the different paints available. I found the paint on courtesyparts.com but they have 2 options. One is a pen and the other is a 2 part system with a base coat and a top coat. The other thing I noticed is that the applications are for the 350z white and the G35 Ivory pearl. I dont think the colors are the same. Any thoughts guys?

White is the same between the two cars, they both have a color code of QX1. The paint bottles are just like nail polish, with the brush and everything. This is what most people are used to right now. The pens are a Canadian thing and can be ordered, we've had them in stock at times along with the bottles. Some people prefer one over the other... I'm still used to the paint bottles w/ brush, but the pens are easier to use in some situations as well...

I got the touch up paint...it covers it up but its not that great. Its better than a very visible scratch though. I just went to Infiniti and got mine.

One thing with those bottles is that the more you shake them, the better the paint will match up. They usually sit on their side for quite a while in the dealerships and all the contents settle to one site and it take a LOT of shaking to get everything back in to a good mix. Something like 3-5 minutes, if you just picked it up from the dealership and are using it for the first time...

i'd also suggest the langka paint chip repair system as it's very difficult to achieve good results without it.

Re: Ivory Pearl Touch-up paint?

seems the problem with the Ivory pearl 2 part is the clear coat
I purchased the two for my 2002 I35, the first time I used it was to touch up a rock chip on my hood....after careful application of the white....(2 coats), I then dabbed the clear coat on.....
the results were very good considering the size of the chip....
the next time I tried to touch up another mishap on my fender the white base coat went on like usual....however...when I shook up the clear/pearl coat to apply...it had darkened considerably from when I had got it.....the clear seemed to have discolored and left a slightly beige tint on the finish...
I'm not sure if my bottle had been contaminated somehow or it just doesn't have that long a shelf life....
I need to repurchase both again for my Coupe...and wonder if the same thing will happen again..
by the way, I kept the paint at room temp at all times in my home....so I know it wasn't affected by freezing temps etc...just a heads up.....LOL [2old4this

Re: Ivory Pearl Touch-up paint?

I use the touch up from paintscratch.com and then apply langka. I must say I can't really tell it was a touched up job on my IP. Looks pretty good. You just need to shake the bottles. The more you shake the better it matches. Shake it like a polaroid picture, shake it, shake it...

Same thing he just said. (grin)
