Moss, with the Brembo brakes, you have to change the rotors when the pads wear down. This is because the calipers are super powerful and wear down the rotors much quicker than regular brakes do. It is unfortunate for us 6MT owners to have to pay so much for a brake job, but it is just Brembo's way of doing things, and personally I think the Brembos are worth every penny.

Do you HAVE to change the rotors too? i figured the metal would last quite a while since my brembo's are always dusting up as they wear out (and really making me work to keep the rims clean...)
When should rotors be replaced anyways? at 5k 50k 100k?

The size of your rotors and calipers has nothing to do with your stopping distance (unless they are so grossly undersized that they can't even lock the tires). The tires available braking traction does. Does the 6mt have larger front tires? Different alignment? Different weight distribution? Does it weigh less (normally cars with Auto's weigh more)? These are the kind of factors that determine stopping distance.
What the big Brembo's give you is fade resistance in the form of better thermal efficency (as was previously stated). The size of the rotors allow them to absorb more heat, and disapate it more rapidly. Larger calipers support larger pads which can also handle more heat. They also provide more braking torque on the rotor. This generally gives a more direct, crisp feel (individual pistons do this as well).
cliff's notes:
Large Rotors/Calipers and brake pad = fade resistance from multiple high speed stops.
Better tires/alignment = shorter stopping distances

Okay, I'm really getting tired of hearing everyone complain about how much its gonna be to replace the pads, or the rotors on all the 6spds with the Brembo's. You guys should of looked in to that before buying the car.
You shouldn't of picked up a $40,000 car or even a $30,000 (the cheaper model) if you were gonna complain about how much it would be to replace the brakes on it.
I mean thats just obserd. Its liking picking up a Ferarri and complaing how the gas prices are going up. If you can afforid to buy a $200,000 car and wanna bicker about the gas prices, then you shouldn't be driving that car.
I'm not trying to be an arrogant bastard about this whole thing but i'm only 21 and I'm not even complaining about price difference to have the Brembo's but its just starting to really bug.
Think of it as you spending that extra $500 or however much it is for new pads and rotors the brakes and having it save your life one day.
I have no problem paying the extra money to have aftermarket brakes on my car. Those are 4piston calipers in the front and 2 in the rear. Thats some hardcore stopping power.
I also think its great that Nissan is starting to outsource to other companies aftermarket parts. Germany and a lot of other country's have been doing this for a long time now.. do the names AMG, BRABUS etc.. etc., ring a bell?? I think its great that Nissan is finally getting in the mix about it and listening to what the consumer really wants, and they did when they started slapping Brembo brakes on their 6mt coupes.
