I really like my Brembos after today...
I was driving to work today going about 35-40mph on Route 30 when someone pulled out right in front of me. They started to pull just a little bit and I thought no way are they going pull out right now. And then they made yet another move and I thought it was a joke or some sort of bad dream. I thought for sure that I was going to smack her because I only had two lanes because of construction and then also there was someone coming from the opposite direction to cut my choices down to staying in the lane that I was in. I hit the brakes and there was the thought in my head that this was futile that I am going to smack so hard into this car! But for some peculiar reason I actually did not hit the other car. Not even close. Although the guy behind me who was following quite closely almost ran into me. After driving away I was confused as to how to feel. One part of me said "wow, I was almost in an ACCIDENT!" and on the other hand smile and say to myself, "those are some NICE brakes!" The latter PREVAILED!

Just wait till its time to replace the rotors. They are so expensive.

It's less expensive to replace the rotors than the whole car that's totalled!

I don't have Brembos, but that reminds me of an incident that occurred recently. Someone pulled out in front of me then stopped to make another left hand turn on a busy wet 55MPH 2-lane road ( I was doing @ 60 and going down hill). I had to stand on the brakes and maneuver to the right. ABS and VDC kicked in as I stopped just in time. If I had been in a different car then the outcome would have been very different.
I can imagine that the Brembos are most excellent in extreme braking situations.

I got to test mine out the other day too. in the slow lane not going too slow behind a WRX and there was a cop writing a ticket ahead. Of course noone saw the cop till the last second and then decided it would be a good idea to slam on their brakes right after the cop which left me speeding into the bumper of hte wrx with a cop next to me. Hit the brembos hard and after to screatching skids right next to a cop I was stopped with plenty of room. Thank god there was noone behind me cause they would have ate my bumper.

My Brembos saved me and my family's *** one wet day when a Suburban/Excursion sized suv pulled out in front of us. I wanted to go buy stock in Brembo after that day.

The only time I've needed to do an e-stop was in a bare bones loaner sedan. The braking was fantastic. All the mags say the G35 has great brakes, not just the Brembo versions.

The difference in 60-0 stopping distances for the G35C 5AT vs 6MT (non-Brembo vs Brembo) is a matter of like 7 feet (it's like 122 feet vs 115 feet). The difference is very marginal...the Brembos really shine when it comes to brake fade...the rotors are very well vented and don't really suffer from brake fade under hard use.

Replacement, drilled or slotted rotors from Brembo, made specifically for the Gcoupe, are only $439 a piece. No pads. Why wouldn't you just buy the even better discs and pads outside the dealer?

Re: I really like my Brembos after today...
The difference doesn't seem like much but that's about 1/2 of a car length. In many cases that's the difference between wrecking your car and wetting your pants.

Re: I really like my Brembos after today...
Correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm sure someone will..
... but from what I've heard/read, you don't always have to turn the rotors just because you put new pads in. From what I understand, the reason for turning the rotors is because they've warped and if they haven't, then leave them be.
Seems to me those 2 guys that write that national newspaper column and answer questions about cars that appear in my Sunday paper addressed that subject once and came to that conclusion. As a matter of fact, the thinner the rotors are to begin with, and I understand our Brembos are fairly thin, the more careful you should be because you just don't have that much to play with.
Anyone elaborate on this?
