Armrest in manual coupe... a good thing?

I have a manual G coupe without the armrest. I was looking at where my arm goes when I shift and drive and have noticed that if I had an armrest where they are going to put it, my elbow will be banging into it when I am shifting. Could this be the reason that they didn't put one in in the first place?

People with auto coupes... if you had the shifter would your armrests mess with your shifting?

Re: Armrest in manual coupe... a good thing?

I took my coupe to have the service department to install some items they didn't have at the time I bought my coupe, and they gave me a G35 sedan as a loaner.

As I was drove the sedan and rested my elbow on the armrest, I placed my hand on the automatic's shift **** and noticed that it was pretty much the right height for that automatic.

Then I thought how the armrest would be in the coupe. Because the manual shifter is shorter in height, I imagined that my elbow would be banging into the armrest while shifting, if they put the exact same one in the coupe.

It'll be interesting to read people's opinions once they get the coupe with an armrest in it.

It would mess with my shifting if there weren't one there. Auto or manual, I like to rest my arm. JMHO.

The arm rest even on the auto is not too functional IMO. It sits so far back and is so short. Unless you put the seat all the way back, I can't even see you being able to use it as an arm rest. Storage maybe, but not as a functional arm rest.

I must sit at the right angle for it to work for me. I like it.

Some of us need to put the seat all the way back, and yes, the arm rest works just fine in that case.

I'd be unhappy without one. In fact that was what swung me to the auto when I bought mine.

Call me crazy. :-))

My arm rest is fine. I rest my hand on my shift **** all the time anyway.

It's all in the wrist . You just need to bend your hand over to shift. Then again people might see your shifting style and wonder if your from frisco

If you were from Frisco, your hand would probably be on another ****.

Someone mentioned the turnfast site before in the "heel-toe" discussion. Browsing through it, I noticed there was a section on shifting. I tried that technique out in the coupe, and it actually was kind of fun!
