Bike Rack on 06 Coupe with Spoiler - Which one to get?

So I need to get a bike rack for my 2006 Coupe with factory spoiler (the smaller kind) and wanted to know which bike rack is the best for the car? It shouldn't scratch or allow the bikes to fly into the car. Plus it should be sturdy for freeway driving. I've seen some trailer hitch ones, but that means you have to have an ugly trailer hitch sticking out the bottom of your rear bumper. PLus they are $$$$$.

I'm looking for a trunk mount or roof solution, and please don't say take it apart and put it in the trunk!

This is mainly for <20lb road bikes, but sometimes for a mountain bike. And I'd want to carry a max of 2 bikes.

Supposedly, this Saris model is the best, anyone try it?
Amazon Amazon

Thanks.

Bird!

I have the Bird Automotive one, and I love it. I also have the snowboard attachment which is nice too.

^^ Yeah, but I don't like how you can see the hookup area under the rear bumper.

If your car has an aftermarket exhaust, you will not see them since it needs to be mounted further back.

Don't do it. As an avid cyclist and a former bike mechanic I can say with a matter of certainty that if you care about your bikes and more importantly, your car, you shouldn't get the trunk rack. The Saris bones is nicest one I've sold, but that's like saying she was the prettiest fat girl in the bar that night. The bikes will end up hitting each other and the rear bumper/spoiler. Saris's fit guide may say that it fits, but the straps will slip and will eventually come into contact with body parts. Just get a hitch rack. They are easier to put on and take off. And the actual hitch is so small you'll hardly even notice it...unlike that nasty mess of gray plastic and nylon straps emanating from the back of your car.

I too am an avid cyclist and former salesman at a bike shop. I'd say Saris Bones to anyone desperate for a rack for a car like ours. BUT Diesel86 is right. Four our cars the BEST bet is a receiver hitch-mount rack (for the same reasons he stated.)

Besides, if you sell your car and the new owner doesnt want it on there, they can just buzz the damn thing off!

OR, buy a cheap used Ford Ranger like I have and use that for your bikes and dirty work!

Go with the hitch and a then a bike rack on there. Search and you will see pics that I posted. It is the way to go. Most people don't even know the hitch is there until i tell them.

I saw your pictures, it looks pretty nice since you have a black car, but mine's DG. Does your hitch actually hide away behind the license plate or do you take it off?

If I were to get a hitch, I would want something like this: https://g35driver.com/forums/showpos...7&postcount=28

It requires cutting the rear fascia tho. Can anyone in SoCal do this for me?
