Interesting facts about sparkplugs.....
been searching for sparkplugs for my G and found this ..........
http://www.nology.com/silver.html
Is this true???? any expert on electrical issues???
I was looking for NGK Iridiums and coopers, but now... mmmmm i maybe go for coopers or maybe silvers if they have the correct ones

don't know about it's application in spark plugs, but the main theory is correct. silver is the best naturally occurring metal conductor on earth. i used to work for a hi-end audio company who sold specialty speaker cable made with silver for that reason- better conductivity = better sound . . .
could be the same principal in a spark plug i guess, but exactly how much gain you achieve

The problem with silver is that it oxidizes quickly. Think of silver jewelry, it quickly tarnishes in the presents of oxygen. This surface oxidation would quickly negate any benefits from the increase conductivity of the material. In the harsh environment of the combustion chamber I doubt it would last very long IMO.

However, because both these metals oxidize in air and are soft metals, they aren't very good for applications where they are expose to air or in harsh environment. So, for spark plugs, where high heat and oxidation can occur, it is best to use Iridium, which is one of the hardest metal known and the least to oxidize. Platinum is good too, but both the aforementioned metals are also very expensive (Iridium being one of the most expensive metals). Reason why you see Gold used on Electronic cables' end is because it doesn't corrode or oxidizes in air, which is good for contact purposes, but it is still a good conductor of electricty too. Now, some expensive cables for electronics use Pure Copper (OFC) and coated with Silver, since both of these are the best for conductivity of electricity. As long as they are covered with something like vinyl or rubber, it won't be expose to air to oxidize.
thanks for the explination!

But I seriously doubt that they use 100% pure silver for the core. It's most likely a silver alloy that's mixed with other things. Just a marketing ploy to sell more spark plugs. I mean really, the spark plug wires are copper, as is the coil on top of the plug. As is the fuses. And the wire to the battery. Not to mention the chassis of the car is not even made of copper, silver, or gold. All for what? 2hp? You get more than that by changing out your slightly dirty air filter.

Another finding...

interesting. never knew that imitations of NGK are outhere.
but in the theme....I spoke with someguys that do G35 and 350z with 400 to 800 RWHp and i tell them about this,, the answer: NGK Iriduims from stock to 550-600 RWHP. them from that to the top HKS Iridiums.. they test thier cars with all these sparkplugs on dynos and they told me about the silver ones produces misfires in high RPMs, Iriduims dont ( and these is Dyno proven ) Turbo aplication or supercharged - one step colder ( as we already know, this is a very good confirmation ). So we are right on the spot with the iridiums. About cooper, they dont last longer than iriduims. Iriduims last for almost 100k miles so for high performance tunning that part will not be a variable, iriduims are constant reliable power all the time. Maybe Consumers Report do these too????
too much correct info - final conclusion Iriduims are the best -
.... And i just buy them
