Question getting ready to join the flock, could use some advice

Hi. Noob here.

Just got a new job with a decent increase and a $300/month car allowance. I have been drooling over the G35 for a few years now and can finally afford a used one.

Been driving an 88 FieroGT for the last 7 years or so and did about everything short of an engine swap to upgrade it.

When you all stop laughing you can look at it if you're interested. It's pretty sweet despite it's heritage:

anyway I love it and i'm keeping it but I am on the hunt for a G35

I have my dealer looking for the right one but i need some advice on what to have him look for. My must haves are coupe, manual, black and spoiler.

he is looking for 2005 or 2006. Are there differences in hp for those years? are there suspension options? I will surely dump money in it for upgrades but i would like the best platform to start with.

Any advice would be appreciated and please be gentle as i am a virgin

the sport package front bumper is different and the rear spoiler is different. 06's come with bluetooth. the sport suspension is the only suspension package option.

so what is the difference between sport and standard suspension? Sway bars? Spring rates? Anything that can't be added after?

A little high agreed. If you can find a local dealer with any '07 6mt's on hand they are running a promotion for 5K off remaining '07 stock. I found a few cars for 34k and 29 after the promotion. It was '07 6mt pretty basic, but not a bad deal for brand new. Also I found mine for just a hair under 30k with all the options, 2006, and 30k miles. Plus being certified I have 78k / 5yrs left on the warranty, way more than the car in the ad.

Take a look at some infiniti dealers, I was able to find some of the best deals there in their new stock or certified pre-owned.

Take your money and buy a G35 from the marketplace section on these forums of another member. If you pay 26,000 for a used 2004, you are going to regret it!! Whatever you do, do not buy from carmax. They seem to overprice all thier cars by atleast 3,000 then what they are really worth just because they know a sucker is born every minute. If you check with craigslist as well and the forums, your bound to find a sweet deal.

For example, https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-cars/184231-2003-5-black-coupe-loaded-extras.html , everything you are looking for and some.

except that it has 61k vs 24k miles and it's in PA and I am in CA. Aside from the distance I don't want a snow belt car.

Thanks anyway

It was just a example. There are always G owners posting thier cars for sale for a good price that are located in the SoCal area.

Who said anything about walking in and plunking down the asking price? I was really just asking what you all thought about that car. Of course I'll be looking to get a better out the door than what is posted on the web.

I doubt I will go carfax anyway, My local dealer is looking for the right one for me and they threw the total hot girl sales rep at me.
