Oil Consumption TSB
that is good news for all VQ owners w/oil problem
mine consumes about .48 qt/ 1K miles
now I have been doin my own oil changes since I bought the car at 10K
I now have 28K miles. Will the dealer refuse to perform the engine replacement because I do not have proper record of maintenance? What can I doin that case? am I SOL

got a dealer oil change to start off the consumption test.
return at 1500 miles - i was 1.6 quarts low per their measurement.
They said to return in 1500 more miles and if the same thing is observed, I get a new engine.
I am 400 miles away from that point, so I should be able to get 400 more miles on the car in the next 10 days and see what they say.

The TSB is for 350Z's not G35's too.
Your current consumption does not qualify you with Infiniti's current replacement standards.

I started OC testing too. To be officially denied
Hopefully by the time I'm done with testing, Infiniti will have stepped up to the plate like Nissan and then I'll qualify for a non-oil burning VQ.
My last consumption was at 2qt/4700mi.

^When they approve you for your new VQ, make sure the part number ends in M9. Thats the latest replacement VQ and the one hand built from Japan.
Don't let them slip you part number ending in M1. Thats the first replacement attempt that for the most part, deemed a failure to this OC issue
