Having second thoughts on spoiler ...

Re: Having second thoughts on spoiler ...
for me, i was completely set on going no spoiler.. there were two coupes available with all the specs, one with and one without.. of course i chose the one without cause i totally loved how the coupe looked w/o the spoiler.. my friend told me i would regret saying the stock wing compliments the car real well..
anyhow, to be honest, i regret the decision now.. i saw a couple coupes with the spoiler on and it looks so good with it on.. any angle.. this is coming from someone who was dead set on having a coupe w/o a spoiler.. i'd say jus look at as many coupes, in person, and decided yourself.. it really depends on what floats your boat..

Re: Having second thoughts on spoiler ...
i like(d) it better WITHOUT.
when i ordered my car, i got the dealer to throw in a wind deflector for sunroof. as time went by, i questioned whether i should get it.
upon taking delivery, i had the dealer throw it in the trunk. figure i could add it later.
get the car without it, have the dealer give you a WE OWE, then think about it.

Re: Having second thoughts on spoiler ...
Dont get factory spoiler. I suggest buy without. I have my twilight blue and got it with factory wing. I think its ok but not great. The G has some very sexy lines and it kind of messes it up. The Impul spoiler however complements, and I would go so far as to say even enhances, the overall look of the G.
I say buy without and then take your time in deciding. I wont be buying a new trunk lid and having it painted and installed just to get the Impul kit but I would have bought the Impul without hesitation had I not purchased the factory wing.

Re: Having second thoughts on spoiler ...
Can't stand spoilers on the Coupe. Never have, never will. Too many silly FWD cars with spoilers tainted the look, in my opinion. The more expensive and elegant cars tend to go without them.
But you'll find plenty of supporters either way you go.

Re: Having second thoughts on spoiler ...
I ordered mine without the spoiler because I don't like the factory wing. It just sticks out awkwardly off the sides of the back. A lip type spoiler would have been a lot better integrated into the design. I, like most comment on this board, would of liked the car to have an M3-type lip spoiler. The Z on the other hand looks like it could use a flat wing around its big round but, but gets only a lip instead.
After seeing real pics(not the studio made advertising ones) of several of the aftermarket wings from people who bought and installed them, I arranged a group deal and got a Gialla rear lip. The Data Systems looks strange in person the way it travels up the sides of the trunk. The Impul looks great in the advertising photos, but on a real car the side lips that go over the tail lights look strange from any side angle. They only come halfway down the tail lights, so they look very tacked on from side angles. I saw pics of a car with the Gialla and it looked really good on that car, so I ordered one. I am extremely happy with it. It is extremely subtle, so a lot of people don't notice it when first glancing at the car. Looking at it from the back, it has a subtle curve that perfectly matches the curve of the tail lights. From the side, it extends a little off the tail and has a nice kick to it. It isn't a spoiler that was designed to be looked at 6" behind the car. If you look at if from 10' away in all directions, it is very apparent how well it blends into all of the car's lines. Installation was extremely easy(only 2 holes to drill). Last, it is functional. The back end is a lot tighter at 130+. If I didn't go Gialla, I would have remained wingless. On the other hand, I love the new front lip spoiler, so I couldn't wait to get one.

Re: Having second thoughts on spoiler ...
Yeah, I don't have the spoiler and everyday I look at my car, I'm more glad that I decided not to get it. I just don't feel that it follows the lines of the car. It is a little too choppy and big in my opinion. I am thinking of getting the impul spoiler though. It is a small three piece lip, very nice and clean and non-obtrusive.
