ALWAYS make sure....

Roughly around a month ago, I took my car in for service at the local Palm Beach Infiniti dealership. My driver seat collapsed, and my passenger seat was not reclining forward, only backwards. My car is lowered on Z S-Techs, and its pretty low, but not the point where its a hassle to drive. I drive it everyday and I dont have a single problem, sans speed bumps. Well when I come back to pick up my car 2 days later, the service advisor parks it up in the front. We go back to his office to sign off the paperwork, I shake his hand and thank him, and all is well.

Well, as Im walking back towards my car, I notice a massive softball-sized dent in my front bumper, right by the lower grilles. I contain myself, and keep calm. I walk back to his office, and tell him "We have a slight problem". We walk back to my car together, and he sees the f*ck up. He asks me if it was there before, and I proceed to give him a kinda look. I tell him "Helllllllllllll no, sir! " He leaves and comes back, telling me he spoke with the manager and my front bumper will be replaced free of charge. Its obvious dealer techs dont give 2 f*cks about vehicles. They see these cars every single day and they dont take care of them as they would their own, which is a shame in my opinion. Fortunately, my service advisor is a stand up guy and made sure the situation was rectified.

To all those taking in cars for service, make sure you do a COMPLETE, THOROUGH walk around your cars before you take back them back! Inside and out. Trust me, the few minutes you spend looking at your car with thru a microscope can keep you from acquiring lots of anger and wasted time.

definitely walk around your car... i got the oil changed in my car at the dealer and they forgot to put the dipstick back in.. nice right? so I'm driving home and the car starts smoking. i pull over and call them and he says drive it back to them.. i get it there and the "master technician" (which is short for a piece of **** f*%king as$whole) blamed me and said he put the stick back in and i must of did it... by this time i had a fit and they weren't gonna do anything but send me on my way.. this took over an hour of dealing with multiple people and telling them that this was not my fault.. all in all i lost over 4qts of oil but got everything toped off and a new dipstick.. lets just say that i go to another dealer now for all my needs.

**when all it woulda took was a half a minute for me to open the hood and check the stick... (idiot!!)

Yea thats highly reccomended..as a tech myself i walk the car for any damage prior to service and note it to a manger or team leader.....youd be surprised how many times we get accused for stuff that was there in the first place....... its better to do just one initial walk through, both you and the writer to avoid any he said she said.....

True that. My car was 3 months old when I received a recall letter for my headlights. Long story short, My car needed 2 paint jobs.

1stjob the clear coat decided to chip away in 2 months.
2nd job was decent but you can see some imperfections. but what can you do. theres a dimple on the clearcoat where the lines meets the headlight.

I have video on my new Blackberry and you can bet I'm going to walk around my car with it the next time I have to take it to any shop.

I dont think ANY shop can say **** to you if you have video footage of your car being 100% before dropoff

I just got a new rear bumper for free from our friends at Coconut Creek Infiniti. It is apparently a policy that every car that leaves the service department has to have a CCI license plate frame put on the car. Well I get home and realize that they broke the mounting point on the bumper and the plate is hanging down. For a $2.00 frame, they had to gave me a new bumper. The best part is that I needed mine repainted because some dumbass scraped it in a parking lot.

When I take mine in to Gunn Infiniti in San Antonio, the service writer and I do a "walk around" and he notes ANYTING on the sheet.

as was kinda said, ALWAYS do the walk around when you drop off your car, NOT when you are leaving.
