Re: How to make 300 HP??

you may have 306bhp, but definately not at the rear wheels, the car stock at the wheels is less than 240.

Re: How to make 300 HP??

On average drivetrain loss accounts for anywhere from 15% to upwards and over 30% depending on the application. The lower the percentage the more efficient the drivetrain design. It'll never be 0% or 1 to 1. The transmission, your driveshaft, joints, rear end, and even suspension, all ROB engine to wheel power transfer.

On the G35 Coupe, the approx drivetrain loss, taking into account the various stock and modified dynos that have been posted here on thos forum and through out the net is around 18-20%. So if the G's powerplant is cranking out 280 ponies, approx 230 to 225 of that power is actually reaching the rear wheels.

Now I'm NO math major or anything like that, but If you dyno'ed your G with 306 REAR WHEEL HP, that would mean in theory your engine would need to crank out approx 383+ ponies in order for that figure to be achived at the rear wheels (383 - 20% = 76.6, 383 - 76.6 = 306.4).

The mods you have, a K&N intake, a Stillen exhast and an FMU, wont get you to 383 (100+ ponies over stock). Some superchargers don't even do that. I also find it hard to believe those three mods would yield a solid 25+ ponies to the crank over stock.

In terms of performance mods, I have an Injen CAI and a Fujitusbo exhaust system, and I would consider myself LUCKY if I gained anywhere like 10 ponies to the crank, and or 7-8 ponies to the rear wheels...

Wait Wait Wait . . .

Anyone take the time to read up on Spidermans ride? It states:

K&N Typhoon cold air induction!
Stillen stage 2 intercooled Supercharger!
Suspension Techniques sways, panhard rod & springs!
Est horsepower - Dyno tested 374 rear wheel
Quarter mile - haven't run yet!
Other - Torque curve at 349...
Tires - Upgraded to Pilot sport Z

So dude, which is it? You NEVER mentioned a supercharger! Hate to point the finger, or bring this up, but why is that most G owners that have "supercharged or turbocharged their rides" often post info that seem like they know jack about what they're talking about? These are the same people who never have a pic, and quite often apologies for their lack of know how. I'm sorry if I sound offensive, but what you're saying and what your profile says totally CONTRADICTS each other. To set the record straight, post some pics up of your ride, and a detailed list of the mods, who performed them, where was it dyno'ed (provide a copy of the dyno)...

Oh and lastly, just to bring it up, its not the first time you've posted your HP claim and mod list... "..I have nothing but a Stillen exhuast, K&N Typhoon cold air system, and an FPR...that's all...dynoed at 306...nothing special".... Sound familar?

Re: How to make 300 HP??

Ok, you state what you wrote in your profile is what you wish you wanted, so I will take it that there's no supercharger...

Second, what exactly do you want to prove to us? You state you dont have to prove a thing. What I and everyone here wants to know is how you came up with 306 REAR WHEEL HP? I gave you a pretty simple, easy to follow explanation of how that would be impossible if you didnt have some 100+ on top of the 280 stock ponies under your hood.

No response to any of that. . .

Lastly, I Iive on LI, have been to englishtown many times, but why would I want to race you?

Spidey,

Maybe it's time to "save face". Simply come clean and tell us you were pulling our leg and we'll all chalk it up to some harmless fun. Keep it going and you're only digging the hole deeper... No imaginary dynos, no BS rear wheel horsepower claims, just the truth.

The people on this board DO NOT know you personally; they only know "spidey" and what you post.

I personally think it's cool that you're modding (if you truly are) and trying to learn about the G, but, in the words of the youth today, "Let's keep it real".

Re: How to make 300 HP??

spider,
I dont know what you know and/or dont know but after reading this im gonna state some things and not even at you but read them in case u dont know...

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
1) A Dyno ONLY measures RWHP and only a guess can be used to determined HP at the crank
2) Intake and Exhaust MAY add 10 rwhp which would be about 15 at the crank.....takin us to ~295

And to go back to the intended topic...
Z-tube, Popcharger, and Crawford Plenum will definatly without a doubt take u above 300HP at the crank...and totals about $500 plus a couple hundred refundable deposit

Re: How to make 300 HP??

He got his mods then went and got his car dyno'd. There was probably a 20+hp increase at his rear wheels so he probably just added that amount to his stock crank hp to come up with 306. Kinda sucks that everyone is jumping on his case when he obviously just made a mistake. Especially since he was excited enough and proud enough with his car (just like the rest of us) to share with the community. All this kinda attacking crap just makes those of us who are new to the G and to this forum shy away from asking any questions. And that pretty much defeats the whole purpose of having a venue to share ideas.
