How to make 300 HP??

Re: How to make 300 HP??
Right on Justice. Let's choose our words more carefully and give each other a break if needed.
This Coupe forum is changing so much into a war zone lately and many good members are avoiding it like the plague.
Let's all make a little extra effort to be nice peeps like I know you all can be.

Re: How to make 300 HP??
It all comes down to some sort of clarifications, which we've yet to get. Its easy to say, you dont have to believe me, or I have nothing to prove to you, but I'm just mind boggled at his 306 rear wheel HP!
Even with thos mods, and taking into consideration he simply taked the 20+ ponies to his 280 crank figure, do you guys really think its possible to achieve 20+ HP to the rear wheels?
When you're off - you're just off! No need to start a war or begin name calling, its just a statement. I mean, damn! If that's all it takes to gain 20+ RWHP, I'll dump my Fujit system, throw away the Injen and go and get what this guy has!

1) A Dyno ONLY measures RWHP and only a guess can be used to determined HP at the crank
<hr></blockquote>
Not true. Even though a dyno measure rear wheel horsepower, any good dyno shop can perform something called a coast-down test. This will tell you exactly how much power is being lost from the end of the crank to the wheels.
Even without doing a coast-down test, a good rule of thumb is 15-20% loss. Each car varies though.

can i add a downpipe and cat (whatever those are) to my stock exhaust? wut are pulleys for?
<hr></blockquote>
XIMER - A "downpipe" is something that turbocharged cars have, not naturally aspirated cars (the G is naturally aspirated, meaning it's not turbo'd or supercharged). And every car has a cat (catalytic converter) from the factory (some have more than 1), but you can replace it with a high flow cat that's supposed to be less restrictive. I'm don't know if anyone makes a hi-flow cat for the G yet (anyone know?). Pulleys are the wheels on the front of the engine that the belt(s) wrap around. Underdrive/lightened pulleys attempt to lower the rotational inertia by cutting mass, thus making it easier for the engine to turn them theoretically. BUT, you need to be careful, b/c there's been some theories that these aftermarket pulleys screw up the balance of the parts they're attached to, thus possibly damaging your engine over time because of increased vibrations.

off topic: Sportscoupe35 - I love your headlights/corners set up! Are they all just PIAA Extreme White as it says in your profile? Also, if you don't mind me asking, how much were the fogs/highs, clearance strips, and side marker lights?

Re: How to make 300 HP??
rwjcp721,
Random Technology and Kintex both make High Flow Cats for our cars. Do a search and you should find that the RT Cats yield more hp/torque and are more noise than the Kintex. I just purchased the RT Cats for $500.00 even from Jason at Performance Nissan (plug plug )
2004 Infiniti G35C-6MT

30% Lumar Tint | Invinca Shield (C-Bra)
Z-Tube | JWT Pop Charger
RT Cats & JIC Y-Pipe(on order)

Re: How to make 300 HP??
I agree with ducatiguy. He was simply explaning and asking. However it is wise to let you guys know each and every dyno machine is set differently. i've read a magazine who went tout to dyno their stock Z and each one of the came out a little different than each other. At one point a dyno machine tested 5xx tq on the Z. HA! Like that would ever happen on a stock Z.
On my350z.com there is a guy who dynoed at 306 and he had all bolt-ons as well as some internal work done. Then the next top guy had all bolt-ons and came very close to 300whp.
All this ricer math of add this will give you 20hp then add that will give you about 20hp and what will happen is you get 40hp. Wrong, sometimes a combination will decrease the efffciency depending on applications and sometimes it helps.
