Stuck in the middle of JWT P/C install - HELP
Hey fellow G freaks....
Need some help here. I was in the middle of the JWT-Pop Charger/Z tube install. Removed the stock tube, and then tried to remove the stock airbox, but the damn thing appears to be hooked up by a mysterious screw/clip that I just can't locate. I removed the screw on the right-hand side (circled), and the black plastic clip on the left-hand side (it's there in the picture, but I removed it during the install), and this thing just won't come out. It looks like there is still something holding that thing in place.
I was using Jason's DIY, and these were the only things that need to be removed in order to take out the airbox (per his DIY).
What am I missing ???

Re: Stuck in the middle of JWT P/C install - HELP
I just did mine yesterday as well and had the same issue. Basically, there is no screw holding the the stock airbox. It's actually a tube at the bottom of the airbox that is connected to another tube below that is attached to the frame of the car. Believe me when I say this, Just pull "upward" (towards the sky if you will) and twist left and right a bit at the same time until it comes out. It will, believe me. Here's a pic of what's holding it down.

Quick6, Looks great ! thanks.
I assume that tube opening underneath the stock airbox should remain untouched and open?
BTW, is that the Z tube you have there? what's that sticker on it?

Re: Stuck in the middle of JWT P/C install - HELP
You can remove it to have a lot more airflow. What it is I believe is so that in the rare chance that the stock airbox starts to get filled with water, that can serve as a drainage point. It is connected to the car with two screws. Once you remove it, it adds a lot of air volume that can be sucked into the filter.

Damn you Philthy for pointing out that my disassembly was incomplete.
I PMd and he said it would take only 5 minutes to take out the two screws. Took me about an hour
Maybe Philthy knows a secret I don't.
There are two bolts. One you can see by looking down the engine. This bolt can be better accessed if the filter element is removed. It will take you awhile if you have an open end 10 mm wrench. If you had the right length socket, the job might be quicker.
The second bolt is harder to access, but easier to remove. You need to turn the driver's front wheel toward the passenger side. This will give you better access to the wheel liner. I removed 2 screws and four clips to remove part of the wheel liner. Once you open it up, you'll see which bolt needs removing.
I removed this bolt first to allow some wiggle room and then removed the other bolt mentioned in the third paragraph.
Like I said, it took me about an hour to get the damn bolts out.
