Flat tire rant (looong)

Here is my story. A few weeks ago I hit a monster pothole. No big deal no flat no air leaking. Few days go by and my low pressure light goes on. I developed a slow leak in my front right tire. Since I was bringing my car in for some waranty work I asked the service manager to check my tire and rim while they were at. I fully expected for them to tell me my rim was bent or my tire was unrepairable. But they came back and said everything was fine. So I pick my car up and as soon as I drive off the lot that damn light comes on again. So a week goes by of me putting air in everyday or so till yesterday. I leave work to get my car out of the garage and the tire is almost flat. So I buy some fix-a-flat so that I could get to Firestone. I get there they take the tire off and instantly find a leak. I am talking 1 second of looking. Great time for the doughnut. WRONG the spare tire wont clear the front calipers. So no I am fuming. No car for 3 days till a tire can be ordered and delivered. I call my local Infiniti and speak to the service manager. She is very nice and remebers me from when I brought my car in prior. She explains to me that although they looked for a leak they didnt find anything and that they are not tire specialists. She explained the procedure that they used to find the leak and it was the same as Firestones. Then I tell her about the damn spare not fitting and she didnt believe me. So now I have to take time out my day on friday and prove it to her. I am pissed off and want them to pay for my new tire. I feel that they didnt do a thorough enough job and put my life at risk by letting me drive my car off the lot. Here's the icing on the cake, part of my service was for a rattling rear view mirror. My car was at the dealership for 3 days and they couldnt find the rattle. I had my friend in the car for 2 minutes and he unplugged the wire and replugged it in, guess what, no more rattle. Number one customer service my A$$.

Re: Flat tire rant (looong)

Is the spare tire not fitting over the front Brembos a known issue that I was unaware of, or is this something that is new?
Thanks...

The dealership is Nationwide Infiniti in Timonium MD. The service manager says she has never had that problem before and was unaware if its their (dealership) or if it was a manufacturing problem(infiniti). I will post after I see her to see how they deal with my problems.

There is something in the manual that tells you how to put on the spare. It's like you should align some holes on the spare to the brakes or something, can't remember what it was. I just read it 2 nights ago but unfortunately I don't have my the book w/ me now.

Re: Flat tire rant (looong)

I had a terrible time dealing with Nationwide Infiniti in Timonium, MD when I originally was Coupe shopping and I've only ever heard negative reactions to their service department. I went out of my way to buy my car from Winner Porsche, Audi, Infiniti in Newark, Delaware and their service department has been wonderful.

Re: Flat tire rant (looong)

Does anyone think that I have a reason to press it with them. I would like for them to pay for my new tire of offer me some other sort of compensation. I mean come on they told me to drive home with a whole in my sidewall. What if I crashed?

Re: Flat tire rant (looong)

Lawers fee probably out come out more than the tire cost~ so I don't think its worth it.

I only have 3k miles on my Coupe and already had 2 side wall flat & 1 nail through the center wall of the tire. Another reason not too get 19-20" Rims in NJ~

Can someone confirm if the spare tire will or will not clear our 6MT Brembo's?
thanks

Re: Flat tire rant (looong)

Bogler is correct. There are some holes or something you have to line up in order for the spare to fit.

Re: Flat tire rant (looong)

Something along the same line happened to me.
I had a tread seperate on the driver's front tire at about 4000 mi. I did not know this at the time. The car had a "womping" sound going down the road.
Took it to the dealership and they diagnosed it as a feathering problem. The service guy told me, "yeah, its probably because you lowered your car". I told him I lowered the car three days ago and it was doing it for a month.
I found out it was a seperated tread when I got my aftermarket wheels put on, so I call them up and tell them the story and they tell me I will have to take it up with Michelin.
I went and bought a new front tire $$$. Not worth my time to chase down $250 tire and get my blood pressure up.

So Infiniti could have eaten the $250, (their cost less, I'm sure) and everything would have been fine. So when its time to buy a new car, I just might go across town to buy.

How much is that tire worth to you now?

Sorry for the rant, just little things like that really **** me off!
So don't expect them to do much for wearable item like a tire.

Re: Flat tire rant (looong)

Nationwide infiniti maintainence dept tried to screw me also. I was tryign to buy a car cover they wanted 300 dollars for the exact same item thats on infiniti's website for 200 dollars. But the sales dept was nice (i bought my car from them), i guess they are all nice until you have a problem with them.
