How hard is it to....

How hard is it to install aftermarket HIDs in place of the foglights?

Anyone do this and/or have a DIY on it?

Re: How hard is it to....

i think he is talkin about putting in actual hids not just changin the bulbs.
GTR35 did this with his coupe and they look pretty tight.
you would have to get bi stage bulbs if you wanted to retain the fog/high beam setup. but they can be pretty pricy. GTR35 just has the single stage ones so he doesnt have the fog/high beam setup. his just come on when you turn the *** to turn the fogs on normally.
hope that helps some if thats what you talkin bout

Re: How hard is it to....

yes sfl that is what i'm talking about..

It just doesn't look like there's much room behind the headlight to install the HIDs...like where would I put the ballast and stuff.

Re: How hard is it to....

In my other car, I installed the Catz HID upgrade. I got the kind that has a relay to move the bulb, for the hibeams. Because of this, the bulb is about twice as long as a regular bulb. This didn't cause me much problem in the other car, but I'm not sure about the clearence in the G. It shouldn't be too bad. As for room for the ballasts, the wire from the ballast to the igniter was about 5 inches, and another 5 inches from the igniter to the bulb base, so you could pretty much install them anyware. I ended up zip tying them to the buttom of the fender brace. I know this is a different application, but much of it still should apply.

Re: How hard is it to....

when you turn on your foglights ... are they brighter than your regular low beams?

I'm kind of worried that my foglights are going to be brighter than my low beams....if I do HID

Re: How hard is it to....

i dont think that your fogs would be brighter, but you would have to get teh same temp bulbs for the color to match up.
what you could do is buy 2 sets of bulbs that are the same brand and have the same temp rating that way they would be the same
