Lost washer down in engine bay...help

Hey everyone, couple of questions:

I was doing a little bit of cleaning under the hood and had removed the engine cover.
When I tried to put it back, I guess I misaligned it and one of the metal washers that are attached underneath it, fell down into the engine bay.
My questions are:

1. Assuming it's laying down on the bottom of the engine bay (the under-carriage plastic), how difficult it would be to remove that cover ? I saw 15 nuts and plastic clips or so....
2. Assuming the washer is no longer there (slipped out somehow), does anyone know how much a new Engine cover for a G coupe runs for ? (I doubt they sell these washers separately).

Thanks guys.

I don't think its too hard to remove that cover...its done during the oil and filter service....

When I changed out my fogs the other day I dropped one of the black plastic clips and it fell into the pan.....I was able to retrieve it with out taking it down though..

I'm sure you could fish around in there with a magnet wand..its a pointer with a magnet on the end, maybe if you fish around in there you'll get lucky

other wise just use a similar washer...if its only holding the plastic cover on I'm sure it wouldn't matter that much...anyways Lots of luck! 2old4this

Yea I can't imagine a washer that you couldn't find a replacement for, if that's all it is. I haven't seen it, so I can't say for sure, but it seems that if it's just a washer, just find some others to put on there, even if you have to put a few. A washer is a washer. Unless, like I said, it's some kind of special part.

Drive really fast and then brake and turn really hard. That will expel all debris..

Here is what I'm talking about. First picture is the stock T-washer. The second picture is the closest match I found at the local hardware store, but it still doesn't match, it's too thick which makes it too high, and so the bolt does not reach the screwing groove. I'll try HomeDepot tonight. I don't feel like spending $117 + tax for a new engine cover just because of a missing washer.....

Already tried that - didn't work. I don't think it's even there anymore. I was late to work and had to drive the car, so it probably fell out when I drove off.

Speedaholic, I'm sure your local Infiniti service department has many on these laying around, try asking them.

Re: Lost washer down in engine bay...help

they sell telescoping magnets at the auto parts store. Cost $2-$4. Retracts to the size of a pen and extends to about 3 ft.
