Anyone else hate auto dim mirror??

Seems that unless a car/truck is directly behind you the mirror wont auto dim. And when it does its not that dark. Cars coming from the side, angle, or who sit lower than the mirror it wont catch. Would trade my auto mirror for a manual any day!

Turn mine off along with the VDC everytime after I start my car...gets kind of annoying...

Re: Anyone else hate auto dim mirror??

I do alot of highway driving, so for me its an asset. I find it alot less stressful than having a SUV right in my backwindow with HIDS. I don't think it makes much of a difference around town but I usually keep it on all the time...2old4this

Re: Anyone else hate auto dim mirror??

It's a love hate thing. I hate it at dusk. I have to turn it off, or I can't see a damn thing. I usually turn it off at night to be able to see, since I have tinted windows. I only turn it on when I'm on a long night drive on the highway.

I just wish it wasn't so percise. Maybe a bigger eye would be better so it catches light from more angles. It is better with the window tint though.

I'm indiferent toward mine. Given a choice, I'd prefer a manual
but ours is auto so I just put up with it.

I wish the side mirrors were also auto-dim.

Re: Anyone else hate auto dim mirror??

I'm with ryo-- side dimming mirrors would rock. As for the auto-dimming mirror, I love it. I've got tint, yep. Now IMHO, the best thing you can do for the car if you're only going to do one thing, is tint it. It just makes sense... keeps the cabin cooler in the summer, keeps the leather from drying and fading quickly, keeps people from seeing what's in it at night, etc. I'm not talking about ridiculously dark tint-- reasonable tint works.

Re: Anyone else hate auto dim mirror??

I don't even use it. My rearview mirror is covered with a panoramic, special convex-coated mirror by Lampa.
This mirror not only increases the visibility field, but also has auto dimming capability without the need of power.
The other great thing about this mirror is that it's not humongous like the plain panoramic mirrors they sell on the market. (it's the same size as the stock mirror).

Love mine as well, and wish the side ones did the same.

Hey anyone ever think of using that type of technology on all the windows.
Bam! Instant tint and be able to control the contrast.
that would be hottt
