The time has come to get rid of charger for the g35 06
Hello all
I am fairly new to this forum and have been back and forth with the idea of trading in my newly purchased 07 dodge charger (with 3.5 L engine) for an 06 g35 with about 24k mi. I know i am going to lose a bit of equity on my behalf of the trade but i really would prefer spending my time paying for a g35 in the long run. I know i should have done this for starters, but got a sweet discount on the car. Well the ***** in my court and the dealer is waiting on me to pull the trigger and i keep getting scared due to the fact its a used car and i hear alot of the horror stories you guys have (with windows , seat belts etc). I did a car fax report on the car and it only had one owner who leased the vehicle. I dont need you guys to help me make a decision just need some reasonable imput because this would be my last time trading and going through this. The G35 is the car i want just want to be 100 percent this second time around. Thanks. my dodge has about 4500mi on it and it was brand new. (no hemi though sigh)

By the time the 06 came out, 95% of the problems are fixed... the only major problem with the 06 is the leather on the driver seat tears because of the massive bolsters, but this is covered under warranty and they replace it with a very sturdy one that will last for 100,000 +
of and theres a recall on the headlights, something about them being too high and blinding people, i didnt have it done.
*edit*: bought mine after 10k and the dealer had done their check and gave me a free 10k service! the car was in amazing condition, just one rash on a rim (soon to be replaced).
just for a ball park, i paid 29.300 out the door (w/o tax title etc) for a loaded 06 G with 10013 miles on it. Perfect to this day!

Where do you get this info? 95% were fixed? I still hear horror stories on the 05+...
1) Window motor still have issues
2) Rear axle bolts gets loose for no apparent reason (Causing popping noises)
3) Leather is still crap
4) *Some* 05+ 6mt have oil consumption issues
5) Tires still show uneven tread wear (feathering, horrible camber, etc)
6) Paint is still soft
7) Engine does PING a lot for some reason
8) Transmission still NOTCHY as hell
9) Clutch engagment point is still way too high

1) Window motor still have issues (still and isssue)
2) Rear axle bolts gets loose for no apparent reason (Causing popping noises)(im not 100 percent sure but i think it was fixed for the 05 and up)
3) Leather is still crap (not if you take care of it, it wont be european quality but if you take care of it it should hold)
4) *Some* 05+ 6mt have oil consumption issues (yup)
5) Tires still show uneven tread wear (feathering, horrible camber, etc) (those were for the earlier years)
6) Paint is still soft (yup)
7) Engine does PING a lot for some reason (not alot but at random times)
8) Transmission still NOTCHY as hell (thats the way the car was built, it was meant to feel like that)
9) Clutch engagment point is still way too high( there is a DIY on lowering the engagement point)
remeber the g35 wasnt built to be a racecar. if you want one of those a 350z would be a closer match

As far as I know, the tire feathering is still an issue on all of the Coupes. It's just an issue of aggressive camber. The problem was that the '03 and '04's you couldn't fix it without going with aftermarket control arms becuase the camber supposedly wasn't adjustable and had a somewhat aggressive negative camber setup from the factory. I heard that this was fixed on the '05+ cars but that they still had an aggressive OEM setting which, if left as it is from the factory, will still result in rapid and uneven tire wear and feathering.

1) Window motor still have issues - no problems here! thats what a warranty is for also
2) Rear axle bolts gets loose for no apparent reason (Causing popping noises) - ??? no probs here and i drive mine HARD, i think its an 05 problem.
3) Leather is still crap - yes, yes it is on the drivers seat, but still fine everywhere else...
4) *Some* 05+ 6mt have oil consumption issues - i think they solved this by 06, i might be wrong, my production date was 2 days before the 07's were released though, so mines a LATE 06.
5) Tires still show uneven tread wear (feathering, horrible camber, etc) - Not true. if you F with it then yes, but naturally we run a slight negative camber that allows for many many many miles.
6) Paint is still soft - Paint is not great, but the occasional touch up does wonders (plus im on the road more than in the city so i get a lot of **** thrown at it) just get a clearbra and worry nothing about it.
7) Engine does PING a lot for some reason - Not on 06's
8) Transmission still NOTCHY as hell - Only when the tranny is cold (first 2-3 min of driving), which is true of many other cars as well.
9) Clutch engagment point is still way too high - too high? confused on this one, it has a sportier feel than a lot of stock clutches, and it grabs kinda hard, but too high? like to fast? too close to open pedal??? please explain.

I have a 2003 with 94k miles and supercharged
1) only issues I've had with the windows were they needed to be realigned once and awhile. The motors never failed.
2)Had the rear axle bolt taken care of in 2004 under warranty and never looked back
3)No problems with leather and I have more seat time than most of you..no cracking or tearing whatsoever. The leather is better quality than the leather I had in my 2001 BMW 325ci and no it wasn't pleather.
4)No oil consumption issues here...I even had an oil consumption test done before adding the supercharger
5)No tire wear problem here until I modified the suspension for negative camber in the rear.
6)paint has and will always be soft...get a clearbra
7)no pinging ever, even when pushing 9 psi through the engine
8)you say notchy, I say that it clicks into gear. This is a direct link tranny, so expect to feel the gears and feedback from the engine. Change your tranny fluid to synthetic. I managed to run a 14.0 mph 1/4 mile at 100 mph with that notchy tranny.
9)Never had a problem with the clutch and never did the adjustment, so I can't relate to it being too high. Additionally, I wouldn't consider it a problem with the car, but a design choice by Nissan..either deal with it or don't

Well the good news is. After 7k miles of driving my car, the rattles went away.. The rear axle bolt was re-torqued by the dealership.
10) Also, there is no way in hell you can re-circulate the cabin air w/o turning on the A/C.... WHY?
