Easy Fix?

Hi all,

I was trying to screw in my license plate onto the G35c I just got, and ran into a problem....

Those black clips that hold the nut in place for the bolt - one of them has a nut stuck in there from the previous owner, and I was unable to get it out, I think it might be rusted in there.

I was trying to pry it out with a screwdriver, but the hole is too small, and wasn't having any luck. Any ideas for me? Do you think I could just order a new black clip thing from the dealer? (Under warranty?)

many times the dealers that put on the licence plates put on the wrong screws and just cross thread it in there... its a pain to get the thing out...

see if you can get the dealer who sold your car to help you out, if not, well... good luck...

go to sears or some hardware store and ask the clerk about what tool you would need to get it out (assuming you haven't tried various bolt removal tools already). if they can't help you, then you're left with drilling the bastard out.

I used a Dremel tool to cut the head of the bolt off. It was rusted solid to the nut. I couldn't save that black nut holder. I replaced it with a plastic nut and bolt so they wouldn't rust again.

Slider did you have to replace the black nut holder? Or were you able to squish you hand back around in there? Seemed nearly impossible when I tried it!
