Warrenty Not Covered

Warrenty Not Covered
Well my '04 G35 coupe just warrenty will soon expired. Took it into the shop to have them warrenty the following items:
- interior wear (door grab handles and garage door buttons)
- key fob button wear
- door check arm (driver side)
Infiniti was nice to replace the door check arm (because the design of the door is so heavy they wear fast) but said the paint wear on the other items was normal.
It's fully because I work for a major automotive supplier (won't say who) and we paint grab handles, interior parts, etc. We do extensive testing on paint wear to ensure we don't get the bill for warrenty work. I guess it's the old deny, deny, never pay (see movie Sicko for example).
I also got the old story from the service tech on the G35:
- you drive a sports car, don't expect the alignment to stay in spec for more than 25k. You should only do an alignment once a year.
- you drive a sports car, don't expect the tires to last more than 36k.
- you drive a sports car, don't expect the breaks to last more than 20k.
I love my car but depending on what the service $$ will be on it over the next 2 years will depend on if I buy another Nissan product.

36k? hahahah. Most people avg about 14k
"you drive an infiniti, don't expect the transmission to be as smooth as a honda"
"you drive an infiniti, don't expect the tires to last as long as those FWD hondas"
"you drive an infiniti, don't expect you get excellent gas milage as a honda"
"you drive an infiniti, don't expect the engine to sound as smooth as a honda"
"you drive an infiniti, don't expect to reach VTACK at 5.5k like a honda".
haha.

much of that is the usual dealer bs... if you let them, a dealer will keep your car in service most of its life...
if you use the OEM rotors and pads, yeah, they will last around 25K with stop and go traffic... But if you get some STOP TECH rotors and HAWK pads for example you will get near double the brake life...
Those door grip caps do scratch and wear very easly... Thats why I sell them to forum members for $22 each plus shipping!
As far as the wear on the buttons, yeah, that happens too... Cheaper to buy a new remote than to replace the rubber part...

I always thought it was funny that to do the "recommended maintenance" it would cost close to $1,000 a year at any stealership just to look at your car and tell you what needs to be fixed.
The service tech also told me that if I want my breaks to last longer to pay him extra to upgrade to brembo and ceramics....I love when they inadvertently admit there is a problem the can't do anything about.
