would you like or dislike? I heard lots of complaints about the z's soft top it just doesnt look good up. I think a g with a hardtop like the mercedes would look very nice.

If I wanted a covertible I would have gotten a SC430. Convertibles are too heavy, takes away from performance.

Custom Carriage Works, the leader in custom convertible wants an access of $15k+ to transform the G Coupe into a fold-down soft conv, and approx $20k+ to convert the coupe into a removable hard top convertible. The hard top itself would be made out of a one piece composites. It would take anywhere from 6-10 week to complete, and there would be no significant weight increase to seriously hamper performance.

Pricey mod, but considering you would be one of only one out there, CCW's creations actually yeild in higher prices for their customized conv, even in used pre-owned condition. If you got the $$$, its one hot way to really set your Coupe aside from the rest, and as for safety and other conv related issues, CCW's been doing this for a LONG time and have even worked hand in hand with Chevy, Bently, Benz and Cadi to design conv system for their vehicles, so they're not some little fab shop.

I would love the G as a hardtop convertible. I would want them to reduce the back seat space, however, make them like SC back seats. I also would like them to be foldable hardtop, like the SC430 and SL500. I would gladly pay 60k for Gcoupe that came like that from factory.

The Z gained about 200 pounds as a convertible. But then a hardtop adds almost that much again. Would you be happy to have the extra, extra 200 pounds? Conservatively, you could expect a car weight around 3750. Me? Not so much. Sunroof will do me just fine. Unless the 3750 became 3850, and included a 350 hp 4.5 litre V8. I like the weight/power ratio in the car right now. If I wanted the car to accelerate like a civic, I'd have bought a civic.

Ok, I'm confused... You would pay 60k, you want smaller rear seats and a hardtop convertible. Why didn't you just buy a SC430?

Just wondering how your 2004 is a 2004.5?? The reason you see the 2003.5 is because Infiniti made changes to the 03 halfway through they year.

Not to mention, the 03.5 designation is a Sedan thing.

 

I have no idea why it is a 2004.5. When I got the service manual, the choices were 2004 and 2004.5. If I remember correctly, if your serial number (the last 6 digits of your vin) start with an 8, it is a 2004.5.

I wonder if it has something to do with the LEV2 emission control?

According to this link, there are 2004.5 coupes and sedans.
