window motor problem
window motor problem
Ok so I get my tints about 6 or 7 months ago, and about 4 months ago, i start noticing grease on my driver and passenger side window. At first I was able to clean it off but now it has completely stained my tint.
In addition, my driver side window keeps messing up. If I click it to go all the way up, it does, but once it gets all the way up it automatically goes back down half way. I took it to the dealer the first time and they said that it was the tint that was too thick for the car & they had to "re program the window". Hence the grease and the motor problem.Ok so I take it second time, about a month later and same thing. so i took it back, they said that they replaced the motor and now 4 months later, its happening again.
The guy at the dealer advised me to change the film to a thinner one so it won't interfere with the motor or whatever. So I was wondering, has this happened to anyone else? If not what would you guys suggest I do? I really dont want to waste my time changing the tint if its really not necessary.
please help.

I had the same problem a while ago with something scratching my window and leaving grease marks as I put it back up. The dealer replaced some clips and adjusted the window. It has nothing to do with the thickness of your tints film. Your service tech is beyond dumb with that answer. Also the motor needs to be replaced if it is doing that (I had the same problem with my passenger side window as well) If you notice the window does that bang the door panel a few times and it will go up and stay up but thats just a temporairy fix for the time being.
Window streaking, (with grease) has been a problem with the coupe since 03. I thought by now they would have devised a fix.
I believe there may still be a TSB for that problem.....I doubt very much if your window tint is a contributor in this scenario.
Also, If you window goes all the way up, and then proceeds to drop half way, either you need to reset your window motor, or its defective, and should be replaced.
My drivers window decided to do that very same thing on the worst rain/wind storm of the year.......Finally was able to get the window up, and had to wait over two weeks due to a backorder on the replacement motors....
Good luck

I think I'm going to have to go a different dealer and see what they say. It sounded kinda stupid when he mentioned that the tint was the problem, but i figured he probably knew more than me
Guess I was wrong.
and i'm pretty pissed that my tint is stained.. anyone know of a product to remove it without messing up the tint?
thanks!
