After owning and driving an 04 coupe 6MT since 2004, I really prefer the auto G due to the fact that I've gone through the following: 1) defected axles replaced 2) tranny noise and knock 3) shifting feels fragile 4) clutch wear is too short, 25k miles compared to my previous integra, 45k mi. 5) my worse pet peeve is it jerks back and forth a lot when you are in gear slowing down at low low speeds in traffic.

I have a 2003 5AT coupe and 2006 6MT coupe. I actually like the smoothness of the 5AT ride. The shifts felt good to me when I got on it. But I'll keep the 6MT for future track days.

It's certainly not a difficult clutch... it's not a Honda, but it's easier than a Mustang.

And if you've got skills you can find ways to eat, drink, talk on the phone, hold hands with your girl, tolerate bumper to bumper traffic, etc, sometimes even all at once!

You went through a clutch in 25k? Thats the shortest I've heard, even 45k on an integra is short. I think it has more to do with your driving than anything. I've had friends go 80k+ on honda clutches

haha, pretty much true. except the holding hands with your girl's hand part.. A good number of us aren't in HS anymore. Get yo hands off me. We can hold hands later.

But if she yapping at you then yea, a good way to shut her up is to hold her hand..

Yeah, I wouldnt doubt it is my driving style, but I was hoping the 6MT would be able to tolerate more than most others in its class especially when it may be influenced by previous skylines. At least thats what i thought when i bought it.

Do you dump it from 5K at every stop light?

The only clutch I know of that lasted less time was on my Mom's old '98 Mustang GT. The first one was defective, and the second one (can't remember the mileage, less than 20K) was my 16 year old dumba** fault. Coming off the highway after cruising about 90 I was down shifting and downshifted into 2nd at probably 60... You can probably guess what happened.

Now, granted, the Mustang redlined in 2nd at over 60 as I recall, and some cars could handle that, but, yeah, it's a FORD. Either way it was a good lesson for a new driver on what NOT to do.

Wow, this is getting out of control. Some people can drive a stick, others need to stick with auto. Plain and simple.

As for me, I was a former stick guy, moved to auto, and found... I've got a nice stick.

6MT - The only way to truly roll your G.

The amount of control alone should make that decision for you man after learning to drive theres no other way to go.

Go for the manual.. I had a manual Z, bought the truck I have now which in auto and even in a truck it sucks.. Thats part of the reason i'm buying a G, I can't wait to get manual back!

Unless you drive sticks for a living, But that is a 50/50. I drive stick trucks for work and I still love driving manuel.
