Re: my poor G :(

Man, I know exactly how you feel. Believe me. I got my G in May, and since then, it has been in the body shop 3 times (currently in for #3), none of which have been my fault.

1st time - driving home on my street one night in july/august, and some a**hole kid shot my car with a pellet gun in the passenger door about 6 inches below the glass. 6 inches higher and it would've hit my girlfriend in the neck/head. Body shop said it came very close to making it all the way through the body.

2nd time - I was getting my bag out of the trunk in the commuter parking lot at school, and this girl trying to park in the space next to me didn't turn sharp enough and just plows into my back passenger side fender/quarter panel while I'm standing next to the car. Then she gets out and says (in her best ditsy sorority girl voice - think "Clueless"), "Oh, my bad, I thought I was turning sharp enough."

3rd time - my car was parked in front of a friend's duplex, and this girl (also a ditsy sorority girl) tries to complete the parallel parking job of the century between me and a 4Runner. Long story short, she gets her car in there, but not before hitting me and the 4Runner, then leaves it there. I called the cops, and while they're out doing the report, she comes out of some house, gets in her car, and tries to drive off while I'm standing in the street blocking her from driving off. That's currently getting fixed now.

That's not to mention the time in the commuter lot when I came out and my drivers side mirror was pushed in against the window, and had a small spot where some plastic from someone else's mirror/fender had rubbed against it. Luckily that came out, and there was no additional damage. I swear I'm gonna have a completely new paint job by the end of the year...first the passenger side door, then the rear passenger fender/quarter panel, and now the back bumper. I'm working my way clockwise around the car. People suck...

nthnbutaGthang,
Yo I feel you on that weather tip yo. I havent driven my car in any kind of snow and today I had to on the pilots. I threw on my hazards and drove like 20-30 miles tops. No sudden stops or anything just reall careful. Its unfortunate that sometimes there is nothing you can do avoid an accident.

rwjcp721-Man it pisses me off just reading crap like that. Clueless people does suck. You really need to stay away from those sorority girls! Sounds like they are the enemy of the G!
Anyway, I hope that's the last of your misfortunes with the G.

Re: my poor G :(

I stayed home today and left my G on the driveway...driving in this $hitty weather with the pilots is really asking for it...I know it wasn't your fault...but people in Jersey drive worse in this weather than on a sunny day....
especially the SUV's damn....they probably cause the majority of accidents I see when I'm going back and forth to work...

The good thing is you were unhurt...and they can fix your car like new....just the inconvenience of having your car out of action for some time is what really blows....sorry again... 2old4this

Re: my poor G :(

nthnbutaGthang - the first time (the pellet gun shot) took about 3 or 4 days IIRC. The 2nd time (the fender) also took 3 or 4 days. And the current one I'll soon find out. I dropped it off Monday morning, and they're telling me it should be done late Wed/early Thurs. I've used the body shop owned by the Infiniti dealership I got the car from (Crest Cadillac/Infiniti in Plano, TX) for all 3 incidents, and they do excellent work. I want them to hurry up so I can put on my new pedals and clear corners, and use my orbital polisher I just got. But, at the same time, I would definitely rather have them take their time and get it done right.

Re: my poor G :(

See, the problem is all the trees and rolling hills in west TX. It makes for poor visibility (lol). I lived in Lubbock for 3 yrs. and I was amazed at the number of MVAs- you can see a car coming from 50 miles away, so how do these people hit each other? I wrecked my truck after some TTU stud turned in front of me while I was going 50 mph. Talk about Tbone city, I folded that little Corolla in half. I think it has to do with some hypnotic effect, no change in scenery, just the white stripe going by at a steady rate and the low hum of wind noise.

Haha that's great man. That can only be appreciated by those that have spent any extended amount of time in the grand city of Lubbock. One plus of that dead flatness is the effectiveness of a radar detector. Last year I picked up a State Trooper on 84 almost 5 miles before I ever passed him.

I remember when OU was coming to Lubbock last year to play us in football, a friend of mine who goes to OU sent me a link to some article in the OU student newspaper that described Lubbock something like this: "Now you have to keep in mind, Lubbock is a slice of hell. There is more dirt and unhappy people there than one can possibly imagine. Some form of mental preparation is an absolute must for anyone daring enough to make the journey out there."

Chalk another one up to the V1! But OU's got nothing to brag about. I enjoyed my time in Lubbock. Doesn't rain much, but thunderstorms are amazing out there-you can see them 50 miles before they get there. My wife loved the sunsets there. She liked to called it the sun crashing into the horizon. But like anywhere else, pros and cons. I wouldn't mine living there now, if it was to be in Ransom Canyon.

Re: my poor G :(

Definately know how you feel. My G was coming up to its 8 month anniversary and I get rear ended and pushed into the car in front for a frontal impact.

All in all - the car is a total loss. So I am G-less

Everybody drive safe!!
