I ordered my G on Sunday where I was quoted an ETA of June 15th. Monday, I was contacted and quoted an ETA of May 3rd. Anyone have any opinions on the chance of it arriving so much more earlier than stated originally? What about it arriving earlier than May 3rd?

I think it depends on how well your dealer keeps up with Nissan inventory. I know in my case, they told me I would have a car within 3 weeks, but didn't give me a solid date because they had no clue what / when coupes were actually coming in. They said they got new ones in daily, but as to what color / config they didn't know until they arrived.

I was waiting on a Diamond Graphite 5AT with NAV. When a Brilliant Silver 5AT with Nav arrived the day after my order, I got antsy and took it. When I went back for my 1st service, my salesperson told me I was lucky, it was weeks before one in DG actually showed up.

I think it's luck of the draw. How's your karma been lately? maybe the infiniti gods will grant you a favor

Well I was told that the exact same model I wanted had been ordered, the order was in the 'pipeline'. So it moved the date from 90 days to 45 days. I dunno, not a big believer in people are taking my money.

rule of thumb, 3 months on an order. however, if one is in the pipeline for dealer inventory, it could be days, not months.

Here is the answer to your question...pull out a calendar...
I ordered my G35 (Sedan) on November 26, 2003. My dealer placed the order on December 6, 2003...My car was targeted for a March 12, 2004 delivery date...to this moment, I still don't have my car...so good luck. (it arrived at the port on March 3, 2004).

If you actually ordered the car....it will take around 3 months..
the order will go in on the 1st of April
the car will be built in or around May
shipped to the dealer in June.....

thats how it went for me....if the car is an "inventory" car...your chances are alot better for early delivery....good luck <font color=blue>2old4this</font color=blue>

My order for a G35 coupe went in on January 6, 2004 and I took delivery on March 12.

 

gte192t, I placed a order twice for my car, each time the wait was going to be about 3 months, and even then the dates were not exact. I ended up canceling all orders and went on the Infiniti website every week to look at the inventory of local dealerships. I found a match, went the next day and got my ride. There's no need to wait 3 months in my opinion. Look at the Infiniti Inventory page, I'm sure you can find a match.

Well actually I got partially lucky. The order cutoff date was tuesday. The order went in on Monday after they could find an invoice number for the VPP. They called me Monday to say it would be here by May 3rd, but high hopes make for big letdowns. I guess at that point there was no need to make up some date to make me happy, as I ordered under the original quoted arrival date that it would be June before I saw the car.

In the mean time, I am looking at some mods for the car in anticipation of its arrival, and I have some additional questions.

1) Should I even be considering mods this early in ownership?

2) Here is my list so far:
a) 6-wire Grounding Kit (the G will be a MT)
b) Clear Corners
c) Nismo Shifter
d) Tint
e) XM Radio
f) Dynoshield
g) Aluminum Pedals

I am also considering Z-Tube with Pop Charger, but I haven't heard the sound difference that this mod will cause. Is it a big sound difference? It is a throatier sound, or a higher pitched sound?

All the cosmetic stuff you can do early. In my opinion, any mods under the hood, I'd wait until after I have a good feel of how the car runs and sounds before making any changes. This way you can really tell if there was a difference.

I changed my shiftknob, got clear corners (with PIAA super brights), grounding wires, and Z-tube/JWT PC, all before even having 600 miles on it. My only regret is that I can't really appreciate the Z-tube/JWT because I can't remember how it drove before the change. That's my 2cents.
