Smile 2006 G35 Coupe (key & remote) question.

I just picked up a barely used '06 G35 coupe from a dealer. I was only given one key/remote, and I made the foolish assumption that the other set was in the package with the manual etc. Purchased from a dealer a few states away so going back to the dealer where I purchased it not likely.

I did some searching around and noticed that my remote is only a 3 button as opposed to the 4 button that I have seen which includes the trunk release. I contacted the dealer and he said that the '05 model had the trunk release, but the '06 does not. Is this true or is he just BS-ing me..? I can see this page offering it and advertised as a G35 '06 that includes the trunk release button.

As far as the key is concerned, what are my options..? I have heard terms about "smart keys", "chipped key", "immobilizer chip", "transponder chip". How do I know if my car uses one of these smart keys..?

My last car was a 1999 so I am a little out of date with this kind of technology. Any help will be greatly appreciated...!

I just bought an 06 G35 coupe a few weeks back and lo and behold, it only came with one key too. However, mine's a 4 button with the trunk release as well.

I signed up for a key replacement service thing so 30 days after the original purchase date, I can order a spare set.

I figured it was BS.!
Hey Kwagga, you said you signed up for a key replacement service...? What is that, how does it work, and how can I sign up for that as well.

I would expect this crap from a used car that cost $5k from a private party, not from an Infiniti dealer for the amount of $$$ I paid for the car. The dealer did agree to send me a 2nd remote but I am guessing it will not be the 4 button version.

I got it at the dealership I bought the car from. I think it was about $271 for a 3 year free key replacement thing, applicable from 30 days after the initial purchase. I'll look at the paperwork when I get home and let you know.
