Infiniti dealership is making me very angry!!
Ok, so I bought a 05 Black/Black G35 6MT coupe from Infiniti of Kirkland Wa, last Sunday. I was really excited about it because I had been looking for one forever. So, I get through everything and im ready to make the deal, we decide on 26,999 W/a set of brand new tires, which the dealership was going to get installed at the local Les Schwab. I also opted to buy the 3M chip protection the dealership said they would install, I drive over a mountain pass allot so I thought it would be proactive against chipping.
Since I live about 100 miles from the dealership (Ellensburg, Wa) I left the car at the dealership deciding to pick it up the following Friday (2/22/08). They told me it would take a full day to put on the chip protection, and I assume a few hours for 4 tires. I called once during the week to ask some questions, and to confirm that I would be picking up the car on Friday around 6pm (mind you I had to take the f'ing greyhound after just buying a new car to get back to Kirkland w/out my current car). I didn’t think to ask about the progress of the work, I assumed it was already done.
Ok so I get there Friday evening, the car is nowhere to be found! My salesman is running all over the joint exclaiming, "it was here this morning". Turns out it was locked in a 3rd party vendors shop that they use for installing the chip protection. He told me they took it on the previous Monday to the chip protection place, and the 3rd party chip place brought it back, stating the chips that are in it currently need to be airbrushed. He then assured me it was returned to the chip protection place, and it was finished, but locked in their shop; and that I could pick it up early Saturday morning. He also said that for my trouble they did the airbrushing, which he said cost $300, for free, and he'd fill my gas tank. The guy who sold me the chip protection said the airbrushing was part of the work. I was thinking internally if my salesman had any integrity he would have filed my gas tank anyways! I was pissed but I said ok Ill come back in the morning.
I called Saturday morning just to make sure, and I get a whole new story...
Turns out, the chip protection was never started, and the tires apparently had to be ordered and were not on yet. At this point I'm LIVID!! They had an f'ing week to get all this done and here it is Saturday, when they new I was coming Friday, and nothing was done...WTF!! I even had to pull an apology out of the sales manager, who didn't really want to even speak with me, It was a nice day and I'm sure they were doing allot of business!! It ruined my whole weekend! They finally gave me a loaner late Saturday so I could go on my date, and drive back home with on Sunday. Here I am Sunday evening without my car and back home. They are going to drive my car 100 miles east of Kirkland to me in Ellensburg late tomorrow or early Tuesday.
I’m going to call the sales manager who I dealt with during the sale of the car, they guy this weekend was a different sales manger, and ask for some compensation.
What do you guys think I should be asking for?
Also, they replaced the original tires with a brand called federal, apparently made by cooper tires. Are these tires an equal trade for the originals? I didn't think to get the specs on the tires when I picked up the loaner, but they looked like sports car tires, i.e. low profile and all.
I’m really interested in all your opinions and comments about this!!
Thanks
Eric

There isnt much you can do about the tires, unless you agreed on a brand, the tire brand isnt that great....
I would make them give you a loaner G35... that should be enough for me.. if they take care of your car.

Wait did they say they are going to drive the car to you? Does this mean it will be actually driven or will they put it on a flatbed and tow it to you? I don't know about you, but the last thing I would want is for some yahoo to abuse my new car on a 100 mile jaunt.
They did give me a loaner, but thats standard for anyone leaving there car at the dealership for service.
I did sya when we discussed the tires that I wanted the same tires that originally came on the car!
Ya I thought about the 100 mile drive thing, but I really want my car, plus its all highway so the worst thats gonna happen is the driver will get a ticket.
What sort of monetary compensation should I be asking for? The car costs me roughly $200 a week in insurance + principal/interest payments, and they have had it for over a week now for something that on the high side should have taken only 3 days!

Stealership runaround........?
I would demand a two year warranty for all the trouble they have caused you.
The tires they put on your car are not the same quality it came from the
factory, but cheap tires that may not last 15K miles. My G came with Michelins which wouldn't be close to the junk they installed. If they agree to
the warranty make sure it's OEM Nissan not some private warranty B.S.!

sorry to hear about your issue w/ the infiniti dealer. i had to call and complain about a missing lug nut and 2 scratches on my trunk from my local infiniti.
but about having them drive your car to you...i wouldn't let anyone drive my car to me after that BS from the dealer. no telling how they'll treat it.

OK - if you 'discussed' the tires and brand to be as original, then it should have been stated in the due bill for the work to be done. If not, too bad, nothing you can do. You would need the due bill to state 'replace all 4 tires with original factory brand and size", not the $90 Federal ones on it.
As long as they do the work, have given you a loaner, not much more to ask for, I agree, but I would definitely make an issue of the tire brand thing. If they don't make that work - refuse the car.
Not taking delivery because they have not completed their end of the deal, is a deal breaker.

I don't mean to steal your thread...but speaking of bad inifiniti dealers
Did any of you tip the saleman after buying an infiniti vehicle from the dealer (assuming everything went smoothly)? I don't know if you are supposed to or not...

Their commission is their tip....
But back on topic...Like the ones above said, if it's not in writing, you might be SOL on the tires, but still make a fuss about it and see what they'll do. Good luck...
