I only use it for my garage as well. I think it's freaking awesome. For the longest time I thought you had to have a Homelink garage or another unit made by homelink to connect to your garage. BUT... I soon found out that it's pretty much compatible with almost any IR transmittable device!

 

Actually, I believe it's RF, not IR. You can get recievers so you can use your homelink to turn on lights, appliances, etc...

 

So far, only garage door.

Are you guys saying you CAN'T get it working? Unless you have a really old garage door opener, you should be able to make it work. www.homelink.com has better instructions if you have problems.
