Re: Factory 300 hp coupe

If we accept the Z makes 287, then just putting the VQ into Z configuration leaves only 13 more to go. Take off 3 say, since they only need a few cars to put out the power to make the stats for the claim (Mazda has been caught overcooking of course on the miata and 8). Finding 10 hp is now the target. Not too tough.

Re: Factory 300 hp coupe

Not too tough but still have a $500 price limit and lets not do ricer math to get to 300 shall we.

I dont' think Infiniti is going to offer factory S-Spec or R-Spec models yet because they can't directly compete with BMW or Mercedes yet. The R-Spec turbocharged whatever would put the cost of a G35 sports coupe almost near the starting price of an M3 or C32 or CTS-V, so they can't compete with that right now because what they do compete with is value...they give the most car for your buck.

Also, the IS430 is not going into production and that's the word so far. So maybe they will bring it but it is said that it is not going into production (well for the US anyways)

I hope they don't change the interior...I love it

Re: Factory 300 hp coupe

oh oh oh i konw the answer!!! for 500 you can get some cheap DC sports ceramic headers and a Z tube and filter =) .....there you go 300hp from your engine. So that makes what.....about 10 more at the wheels? i forgot what the % is, but whatever.......how about you learn to shift better and forget the 20 hp.

Re: Factory 300 hp coupe

I'm not sure about the DC Headers for $300, The Z-tube & JWT Popcharger might yield about 7-hp, so you have 13 more to gain. We will not "throw away" anything, as the claim was 20-hp for less than $500, not 17-hp for less than $500. I honestly believe that if you want to dyno 254 rwhp (assuming a generous 18% drive train loss) to get 300 crank hp you would need to spend more than $500. I have read that strong stock G's measure around 230-rwhp, so getting to 300 at the crank might be harder than some have been led to believe. Tig 488 just did a baseline dyno on his G and he has the injen CAI and the injen SES and is only at 237-rwhp dyno base line

Also, EvolutionGSR, I'll take your advice and the 20-hp if you don't mind thank you...

The cheapest way to achieve 300 crank hp that I’ve seen involves the following… exhaust modifications (at least changing the Y-Pipe if not the entire exhaust), RT High Flow Cats, Air Intake and a new Plenum. That combo will run you between $1500 and $2000 if you are actually measuring the gains (and not just adding hp numbers from component to component). I'll post my dyno with these modifications in about 1 month and we'll see if I hit the magical 300 crank hp (with the generous 18% factor).

Your mileage, however, may vary…

Re: Factory 300 hp coupe

Well, the z-tube and Popcharger are adverstised to give you around 12HP right? I've seen some of the exhaust mods for $350-$400 (stillen perhaps, can't remember) that will give you another 10HP. You're now at 20HP for approx $500 or so however, not at the wheels. I'm sure the new 05 coupe will not be 300hp at the wheels. I'm just going by what ppl seem to be reporting for dynos.

Re: Factory 300 hp coupe

My point exactly. Easily done. Again, we're not talking a 20hp gain at the wheels.

Re: Factory 300 hp coupe

People, people, people... Google is your friend. JWT popcharger w/ z-tube does not yield 12 hp... JWT and Z-Tube. As you can see the combo net ~7hp and a cool noise, not 12 hp. This is my last post regarding this topic. If you want to believe that a Z-Tube & Popcharger, headers or whatever gives you 20-hp (or 50-hp for that matter) I suppose there is nothing wrong with that. Happy modding...

Re: Factory 300 hp coupe

Well, you may be right but when I go to Grubbs Infiniti site and they claim that the JWT Pop Charger gets 6.5+HP at the WHEELS. I'm going to assume they can back that up with a dyno but, maybe I shouldn't assume that. Therefore, what does 6.5HP at the wheels translate to the crank? So, given those types of claims, that's the basis for my reply about getting added HP for a relatively low cost. That Grubbs claim doesn't include the z-tube.

Re: Factory 300 hp coupe

I wouldn't believe anything the dealer tells you.

When I went with my boy to pick up his IS300 the dealer told us about the redesigned GS which he said was "extreme" and "fast looking" and "ridiculous". The new GS is ho-hum boring and this was a year and a half ago.

As far as the new IS goes....the Lexus LF-S which was first thought to be the new GS is really the next IS 07' . The car is SICKKKKKKKKKK and may lead me away.

Re: Factory 300 hp coupe

Skyline S-tune GT will probably have about 300hp. The 350z already has this factory installed option, don't know when it will hit the US. I have been told that our car will be released soon with this option.

Re: Factory 300 hp coupe

Model improvements are always the norm. Kinda sucks when you buy a first year model. Oh well.
