Racing For Time...
Just curious if anyone knows if there's any kind 'standard' for how much fuel, whether it be a full tank or a certain amount of gallons, is required to be in the gas tank of cars that they're timing for results...if you think about it, it's not that big of a difference...but the G's tank is 20 gallons...the weight of that liquid is about 166 lbs which is like having an extra person in the car...
Just something random I was thinking about...but are all these cars that get timed for results required to have a certain amount of gallons in their tank, or a full tank, or even a close to empty tank...just curious for responses...

Re: Racing For Time...
Yeah...that's another thing...the driver's weight...for example...you weigh 120 (?) and I'm at 240. Is there some kind of standard or rules/regulations for the people testing these cars to give them the times the can post to the public...? Cause if not...who's to say that one company would put a 100 lb driver in a car w/ a close to empty tank just to get a better time than a competitor's car...?
Re: Racing For Time...
Every magazine test uses correction factors in compliance with the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) J647 standard (also used by car manufacturers). If you have the chance, read p.12 of Motor Trend Oct 2001...it explains it all.
As for you gas tank question, all cars are tested w/ a full tank of gas.

Re: Racing For Time...
you have the same stats as me. I was only 120 but I've been on this high protein diet so I got up to 130 now. I have a gsxr750 too, it doesn't even know I'm on it. I never thought of being short as a disadvantage. I kick *** on go kart racing too.

Im 5' 8.5" 175lbs play tons of soccer and aggresive rollerblade. I raise my seat in the G, I like to be able to see the right front corner of the car. Being 5'4" you must have to raise the seat alot, or maybe you just ride low.
I dont think there is a standard(fuel in car) for racing at the track, its just a matter of the more educated racer. Drag racers more than likely have rules, but then again there gas tank is only the size of 1 or 2 runs. NASCAR they need all the fuel they can get.
