i agree - painted housings look way better - i plan on doing this but wasn't going to sand anything down.. you think its really necessary to do some sanding? and does anybody kno of a better method other than using the oven? im kinda scurred to throw mine in the oven...

oven + sand + paint = not so bad.... just pay attention if you are doing a 2 tone...

Yeah its a blue_bat overlay. Looks great and great quality too, I installed some headlight overlays on my matrix about 3 years ago and they are still on and look great! Just one chip on it from where a rock hit and I consider only one chip on a headlight overlay over a 3 year course pretty damn good

No, sanding is not necessary, you can just scuff all the chrome with a scotchbrite pad and paint. No need to sand
